Falling short of a goal

I’ve come to realize I’m going to fall short of my goal to reach 195lbs by Jan. 1. As much as I hate not making my goal, I also know i have to go with what my body is telling me. Right now, no matter how much I eat, I keep losing weight, even though I’m dropping it slowly. So, instead of really fighting what my body is telling me, I’m going to go with it and get ready to start shedding some of my extra body fat a week early. Come Jan. 4, I’m actually going to start supplementing my diet, as well as taking Hydroxycut and NOS. I figured I’ll give it 30-45 days to see some results and re-evaluate after. I’m also adding whey protein supplements to my diet as well, along with switching my overall diet, time to eat more clean.

Frustration

Monday, December 15th, 2008

I got up to 189lbs for one weigh in, and haven’t been able to maintain it. I’m hovering around 187lbs, no matter what or how much I eat. The good news is I was able to hit the weights hard today, despite the ongoing sharp pain in my right elbow. I think I aggreviated a tendon or something. I wasn’t going to let it slow me down today though. I pushed myself through a pretty intense workout. Biceps and back today. Tomorrow is triceps and chest before hitting the road for an overnight business trip… joy. At least I have the gym to look forward to tomorrow.

Sore

Thursday, December 11th, 2008

Man, I only lifted twice this week (chest/tris and then back/biceps) and I am sore! For some reason I’m having a lot of joint pain this week, even in my hands. It’s really odd. I sure hope it goes away. I’m not feeling motivated to push myself back to the gym tomorrow as it only added to the pain earlier this week. Maybe I’m just getting old?

Feeling Better, Back at It

Wow, I must have been more sick than I thought. I lost 4lbs last week. This is going to make reaching my goal of 195lbs by the end of the year that much harder. I still have high hopes, but this was definitely a setback. The good news is my muscle tone is much better now than it was a few weeks ago. I was really able to notice a difference doing standing cable flyes this morning. I’m starting to see real seperation between my deltoids and by biceps/triceps. It looks like I have three muscle groups instead of one.

I’m going to try to up my protein intake a little more this week. I have a couple small venison steaks and some pork chops to eat today. I’m hoping to keep the pattern up for the week, in order to gain the weight back I lost, evne though it was probably water weight.

Week Off, Sucks

Thursday, December 4th, 2008

Unfortunately, I’ve h had to take this week off from the gym. I managed to catch a stupid cold that is floating around and it has really brought me down. A lot of my coworkers had the flu this past week, or strep throat. I was lucky and managed to just catch the nasal congestion… might have something to do with the flu shot I received and they passed on. I feel lazy that I haven’t been at the gym in the mornings, but my body sure needs the rest. I get to sleep in for an extra hour and a half, and my body is telling me I need even more rest. I’m already looking to get back at the weights next week, but looking forward to being well again even more.
