Bi’s and Tri’s
October 1, 2008Here’s the breakdown of my gym session last night. Started off with the 2 heavy hitters skull crushers and standing barbell curl. After a quick stretch and warm-up it was game time. Started off with 30 on each side of the curl bar. Partner made sure there was little room for cheating during this workout. He kept the elbows in tight the whole time…3 sets of 10, followed by a 4th set with 35 on each side. Went for a 5-8 range rep. Partner helped with forced reps to make sure we finished the set off right.
Right after the 4th set, we set up for barbell curls. Same thing here started off with 30 on each side, 3 sets of 10 follwed with a 4th of 35 on each side. Partner made sure there was no swinging, that it was the arms doing the majority of the work. Squeeze real tight at the top and lower down slowly with each rep made for that deep burn. Was feeling pretty pumped by this time.
Gave bout 1 min or so for a quick water break before it was time to hit the next couple exercises. Supersetting the dumbbell hammer curls with single arm overhead tricep extension. Back to back for the 4 sets. I moved up in weight for the 2nd set, kept it through the 3rd and half of the 4th before lowering it back down to finish out my reps. We tacked on a 5th set to put on a lil weight. Only 3-6 range for this one. Partner assisted only to make sure there was a smooth lift.
Gave ourselves a couple minutes to get some more water after that one. Set up our equipment for the next exercises. Once again with the super sets. This time single arm dumbbell preacher curls mixed with seated dips. Another 4 sets of each. Added weight to the dips after the first set reached 30 and I was still good. 45 plate on the lap and we’re all good for the last 3 sets. Pushing it to failure each time. On the curls I moved up after the 1st set with the 30s and used 35s for the next 2 sets follwed by the 4th with 40s. Only got 6 on my own before partner helped through the pause on the last.
Finish it off with some concentration curls and all good for the night. Felt pretty pumped walking back from the gym…the shadow cast from a light made me look like the hulk and I was happy for the evening
