THE ULTIMATE PYRAMID - Navy seal workout!

Saturday, May 26th, 2007
This is a workout I got from the United States Navy Seals workout program.  It is intense!  Do this once a month or so to break through those plataues.  If you are struggling to increase your pullups, this workout will definately help.  WARNING VERY INTENSE!

So here it is:

1 pull up, 2 push up, 3 crunches

sound easy huh, don’t worry you will feel like you want to puke after you finish this workout.

2 pull ups, 4 pushups, 6 crunches

there is no relaxing during this routine just keep going:

3 pullups, 6 pushups, 9 crunches

starting to see a pattern??

4 pull ups, 8 pushups, 12 crunches

5 pullups, 10 pushups, 15 crunches

Follow this pattern until you get to 10:

10 pullups, 20 pushups, 30 crunches

Your not done yet, this is a pyramid so you have to come back down:

9 pullups, 18 pushups, 27 crunches

Take this all the way until you get to

1 pullup, 2 pushups, 3 crunches

When I do this workout, I start feeling dizzy and nauseated.  SO that is your warning.  However I have never seen a workout break through plateus the way this one can.  So try it out, do it once a month.

If you cannot make it up to 10 go as high as you can (let’s say 7) then come back down.  Next time you do it try for one higher (let’s say 8.  Keep at it until you get to 10.  If you can get to 10 and come back down that works out to 100 pull ups, 200 pushups, 300 crunches.  I have made it as high as 12 and have come back down.  I spent the next 20 minutes trying not to puke.  You can do this workout in about 30 - 45 minutes.  Good luck and don’t say I didn’t warn you:

Changes

Friday, May 25th, 2007

With the changes in my job recently I have been very busy.  I hve not stopped working out but I have not been able to check my blog as often as I like.  For that I want to appologize to those of you out there who have been checking in every so often.  My weight is down to a respectful 184 pounds and I have started riding my bike to work and back each day to add some cardio to my routine (that and bike riding really increases my leg strength and size).  I have been eating well, the typical 6 meals a day and only cheating once a week.  So I am still committed to the healthy lifestyle.  I hope you have not given up on me and I hope you keep dropping into my blog I do appreciate it.  Take care everyone and keep lifting!

Protien pancakes

Wednesday, May 9th, 2007
Protien pancakes are delicious.  Just make sure you use no sugar syrup (try E.D. Smith)
The recipe is as follows:
1 cup of whole grain oats
6 egg whites
1 cup of fat free cottage cheese
1/2 a teaspoon of vanilla extract
1 tablespoon of splenda
(you can add a pinch of cinnimon if you like)

Mix all this together in a blender then fry up like regular pancakes (use Pam on the frying pan)
Serve and add no sugar syrup with a few mixed berries like strawberries or blueberries.  Very tasty.
This will feed 2 people, If you are alone just put the rest in the fridge and eat it the next day after you microwave it.

Enjoy!

Big changes!

Saturday, May 5th, 2007

Hey all, I was gone for the last 4 days at a course.  I just found out while I was gone that I got the job I interviewed for.  The only problem is that it is in Victoria and I live in Vernon (8 hours including ferry ride).  However those that hired me said that I could be based in Vernon.  So now they have sweetened the pot.  I can get a promotion and still live in Vernon.  The only problem with this is that I will be expected to spend some time in Victoria.  Which means being away from the family at times.  This worries me.  I decided to accept the job (you don’t get ahead in life without risk) but do my absolute best to spen as much time as I can with my family.  So we’ll see how it works out.

The other issue is that I have a gym membership in Vernon and will need one in Victoria as well.  This can be a significant cost.  So I am looking into gyms in Victoria that are close to my work in a hopes of finding something good.  I have also talked to my employer to see if they can find a free gym or get a discount at a gym.  Anything will help.  So big changes for me and my family.  I refuse to fall into the tragety of the "or" which means work or family.  I believe in the virtues of the "and".  Which means I can have a solid career and a healthy family life.  Balance is important.  Fitting in health as well makes it more difficult but not impossible.  So what I am saying is I am going to give this a try and do my best to balance my health, my family and my career.

I will keep you posted.  In the meantime, lift heavy and eat right.
