Quasimodo!!

quasimodo.jpg

Squats and sldl, great for the glutes and legs, but so bad for the back. Yep, folks, my back is hurtin again. But not as much as my legs are. I can barely walk (hehe). Walking lunges are ok and leg curls seem to be ok. I trained with my friend the pt last night and he gave me the look over. He says I’m crooked. That my back or neck needs to be adjusted. So of course insecurities take over and all I can see when I look in the mirror is Quasimodo. EEEKKKKK!!!!! So I’m making an appointment with the doc today to have them take a looksie and hopefully refer me to a chiro. I can’t touch my toes anymore. When I try to do a straddle stretch, I’m completely upright. I can’t go forward one bit. Pathetic! He also thinks I need to ease up on the weights. No more heavy but high reps for more definition. I want definition but I love lifting as heavy as I can too. Why can’t I have both?

ouch!!! I feel you, I’ve got a toasted back too. Compliments of a flight-o-stairs!! yeah…. I do my kettle bell squats, and no issues there, mainly because you’re holding the weigh in front of you and not resting it on your shoulders. Oh, after you see the chiro, take motrin for about three day to help with the swelling..

I’m with you–i enjoy heavier lifting better! BUT higher reps = more definition. It is a trade off. Bummer about your back! I would get a massage before going to the chiro–loosen up the muscles so they don’t re-tighten after you get realigned. Just a thought. Do you wear a belt when you do deads?

awww laurie, take care of that back.. once it goes the rest is sure to follow.. especially at your age..lol who am i to talk huh? yeah.. go more reps…

Back issues B-L-O-W. I’m in the same boat right now, and may very well be on my way to a chiro next week as well. Stupid back issues.

  5. suzysunshine Says:

Yep a chiropractor is good. If you have a good one. They work wonders. In no time you will be back at it.just be careful for now as you dont want to do more damage. So no heavy lifting girl..I know i know easier said than done.

  6. BryanGee Says:

Hey girl you just need to quit dicking around with this back thing and see a professional. You might have a serious problem and the longer you wait the worse it’s gonna get. and it sounds pretty bad right now. BTW you don’t resemble Quasimodo in the least.

take it from spinal injury boy here…don’t mess with the back…go see the chiro and get straightened out….and then go see a massage therapist to help alleviate any scar tissue that might result from the injury. ice ice baby…ice is your friend no matter how much we all hate it..20 minutes off and on to help get rid of welling and inflammation. repeat this 3 times 3x a day if at all possible…once the chiro has you getting able to move again, he will probably have you alternating heat and ice…but only use ice right now….I am not quasimodo yet, but I am resembling Frankenstein with all the stitch marks and metal plates attached to my spine..so don’t be a hero like I did and blow off the pain..go to the dr NOW while its in the early stages and get it fixed…and DO NOT LIFT right now.
