Drop sets

Last night I tried drop sets and loved the burn I had going. It was shoulder night so I figured it be the perfect body part to try it out on. Tonight will be back and bi so we’ll see how that goes. Oh, and MrDead I threw in a 100 reps at the end just for you. Oooooouuuuuucccccchhhhhhhh! My stomach is feeling better, still a little queesy but not as bad. My appetite is back so that’s a really good thing. I think I’ll stick with drop sets for a few weeks to see how it works out. Next on my list will be 5×5. I need to do alittle more research into it. If anyone out there has done it feel free to leave me some tips. Or even on the drop sets.

I’m back. I’ve been in hiding for the last week. I’ve been fighting this stomach flu and depression and I’m slowly getting my butt in gear. One foot in front of the other. My appetite has disappeared, I was lucky to take in 500 calories a day. Not good I know. I’ve lost a few pounds and really don’t like what I’m seeing in the mirror. There’s a healthy thin and there’s a sickly thin. And right now I’m looking pretty sickly. Pale is not my color. I’ve been trying to stick with the gym and have had to go lighter since I haven’t recovered my strength yet. Haven’t even bothered with cardio other than walking the dog. I’m pretty bored with my routine too. I think I’ve hit a plateau and I’m not sure what to do about it. We have a new personal trainer at the gym. He used to be a MMA fighter and I’ve been watching him train other people. He looks pretty good, unconventional. He’s been trying to get me into taking some lessons from him. He says he can tell I’m into strength training and I have the endurance for his type of training. I’d be all over it if it wasn’t for the money issue. I don’t want to use my emergency money for something that’s well, not an emergency. Anyways, I’ve been over in the forums and article’s trying to find some new routines but nothing is grabbing my interest. Any suggestions would be great.

4-15×90 - Leg press
4-12×25 - DB dead lifts
4-15×30 - Seated leg curls
4-15×50 - Kickback (machine)
4-15×50 - Seated calves

Cardio:
25 minutes - Walked dog

Went low weight, high rep again today. My quads and glutes were on fire. Didn’t care for the hack squat, give me the squat rack any day. I’m hungry, time to go eat. I had 3 homemade chocolate chip cookies today. Soo good. I made them for my son yesterday but uh, sweets aren’t good for kids so maybe he shouldn’t eat them. I guess I’ll have to sacrafice myself and eat them for him.

Shoulders/Cardio

Shoulders:
4-20×30lbs - BB shoulder press
4-20×10 - Machine shoulder press
4-20×5 - Seated side lateral raises
4-20×5 - Front raises
4-12×30; 3-12×25 - Face pulls

Cardio:
10 minutes on stair mill @ 7 (gym was closing so not enough time to do a full 20)

Tonight was good. I did low weights, high reps and also added an extra set. Felt really good. My shoulders were on fire. After the way the Raiders choked tonight I needed to get my frustrations out.

Abs, Chest and Triceps - Screw the cardio

10×65; 8×65; 6×65 - BB decline bench

10×12.5; 8×12.5; 8×12.5 - Cable crossovers

Triceps:

10×15; 8×15; 8×15 - Overhead rope extensions

15; 10; 10 - Tricep bench dips

15×25; 12×25; 10×25 - Vbar pulldowns

 

Abs:

3×15 - Prone Jack-knifes

100 - Crunches (on floor, legs up on ball)

3×15 - Side crunches

I did abs this morning. Hit the gym this afternoon and was feeling sick by the time I was almost done with chest. I just sucked it up and hit triceps anyways. Climbed on the stairmill and after not even 5 minutes said screw this and left. Felt like hurling today. Don’t know why, maybe didn’t let my food digest before coming in. Still a decent workout I think. Oh, and be sure to check out my new progress pics.

Tonight was ok, felt pissed off by the time I got to the gym. Didn’t feel like talking to anyone. Actually I felt like hitting someone so I punished the weights instead. I think I showed them who was boss. Frustrated and tired tonight. Every muscle in my body is so damn sore today. I’m so glad tomorrow is a rest day. I really fricking need it. I’ve been having a hard time falling asleep the last few weeks but last night the second my head hit the pillow I was out. Went grocery shopping after. I  swear they played nothing but sad songs all the way home on the radio. Started crying all the way home…..yes, I was having a chick moment. It happens to the best of us. Ok, I’m over it now.

Nothing like a little ab work first thing in the morning. I just can’t do them at night with the rest of my workouts. My belly is so full of liquid by the time I’m done with weights I feel like a beached whale.

Nothing special tonight. Felt kinda weak. Wanted to go heavier but it just wasn’t going to happen. My chest and glutes are just so sore. I’m definately gonna have to take a hot bath tonight.
