I should have gone to the gym!

So yesterday I wasn’t feeling much motivation so I decided to skip the gym. I figured I’d spend some cuddle time with my pooch. I took her to the dog park thinking it would be some nice exercise. Well she decided to go after another dog so I tried to grab her leash. I had just bought her the kind that will extend to 16 feet. Well that was a mistake, I grab a hold of the cord not thinking, just reacting and yep, you guessed it. Rope burn, all the way across my hand. Can I tell you it hurt like a mother! It doesn’t hurt so much today but it’s alittle hard to make a fist. I should have gone to the gym instead.

I don’t know what happened yesterday. I love training my legs but when I got to the gym I just lost all motivation. It was like a funk just hit me over the head when I walked in. I haven’t been losing anymore weight and I just feel fat. I’m thinking that I’m not eating enough again or I’ve reached some kind of plateau. I’m trying not to get discouraged but it’s hard. I’m not the most patient person, I want results yesterday! Maybe I’ll try switching things up but what? Maybe take a little break? Any suggestions? I’m making today my cheat day. I’ve had some cheat meals but I think I just need to have a whole day of crap. How sick do you think I’ll get if I try and stuff a burger, tacos and fried chicken into my body all in one day? Yuck!   :0P

It’s been over a year since I’ve done any kind of yoga. I try to stretch after my workouts but I’ve been really lazy about it. So last night not even a minute into my sun salutation I realize how tight I’ve become. I’ve been so into losing weight and building muscle that I’ve completely neglected my yoga. What good is it to have all these great muscles if I’m so tight I can barely straighten my legs. And man did it hurt last night. So from now on I’m adding my yoga back into my routine, even if it’s only a couple of nights a week.

So last night was arms night. I decided screw the usual 3 sets w/10 rep deal and just went for the heaviest weight I could handle. I did 6 curls with the 15lb dumbbell. I was so proud of myself……stop laughing! For the next couple of weeks I’m going to take everyone’s advice and go as heavy as possible to build strength and see if that makes a difference in the way my body will look. Muscle city here I come….wooohooo!

Increase or decrease?

So I have a question. Right now when I lift weights I’m doing 3 set of 10 and I increase the weight with each set. I’m not trying to go for the body builder look, just tone up. I’m trying to use the heaviest weights I can because I want to increase my strength too. I feel really wimpy using the 5lbs weights.  I’m thinking I might need to do something different since I’m not getting as toned as quickly as I’d like. Should I just stick to light and do more reps?

 I put on my skinny jeans today and not only could I button them but I can still breath! The diet and exercise is paying of and it definately makes it worth all the hard work. So for those of you who feel frustrated or stuck, just keep with it. It’s all worth these little moments.

Last week was a rough one. Pulled something in my neck so I wasn’t able to go to the gym this weekend. No shoulders or arms. Spent it laying on the couch but the good news is I feel alot better and will be back in today. Chest day, I’m excited!

Well things are coming along nicely. My new diet seemed to do the trick. Not only do I feel stronger but I’ve lost a few pounds too. I’ll take my measurements again this weekend to see if there’s a difference. Just curious do most people take their measurements before or after they work out? Tonight I’m going to get my fat measured……..scary!

Last night at the gym I had someone tell me I look like I could be a fitness instructor. That made me feel good. I’m usually just trying not to trip over my own two feet. Coordination is not one of my star qualities. Lol

Had such a rotten day yesterday. I was so upset I left work early. Couldn’t go to the gym, figured I’d probably end up hurting myself since I hadn’t eaten much the last 2 days. So I grabbed the dog and went for a hike. It was only for an hour but it kicked my ass. Downhill going in and uphill all the way back. Felt better……for alittle while anyways.
