Looking better.

June 19, 2009

Now that I have my diet going in a direction that at least is not harmful, I am ready to continue moving forward.  I’ve done my homework and prepared my schedule and family for the change that I’m going to be making in my lifestyle.  I have a menu posted both at work and on the refrigerator (and one in my Blackberry) and I have set aside time during the week to get in 4 workouts.  Tonight is grocery night and I am looking forward to see how much this is going to cost - but I know the benefit will exceed the cost in the long run.  I have to be honest though - I really fear starting to work out again.  I have been trying to get in a few "mini-workouts" to prepare for the pain but I know the first week is going to suck.

Workouts begin on Sunday - revised Diet begins on Sunday and my life is ahead of me……

Going to do it!

May 20, 2009

It has only been a week back on the path but it is feeling pretty good.  I am starting to feel better and I am getting more energy and it is making me much more positive that I can get back to where I was and hopefully a bit more.  Just have to keep pushing!

Making head-way

May 16, 2009

Well things are going well with the diet.  I have been able to maintain at least a .5 pound per day weight loss, which I feel is just fine.  But I know that I can do more and make things more reliable, while maintaining a better attitude if I can get some activity into my schedule.  Unfortunately, I am currently working 12 hour days (6 days a week) and driving an additional 2 hours per day.  So out of 24 hours I spend 14 related to work - 7 to 8 sleeping (if I’m lucky) which leaves 2 hours where I eat dinner, take a shower and play with my kids.  I do take Sundays off of work and I try to get in at least a walk or something that resembles a run.

Any ideas on how to squeeze in a workout?  I know there have to be a couple of you that have run into this over the years - please share your thoughts.  (probably should post this in the questions area as well)

No MORE……

May 13, 2009

How stupid and lazy could I be.  I am totally embarrassed and upset with myself that I have let myself get so far out of control.  Since my last post, I picked up a new job and in doing so, I QUIT working out and began eating with the guys…  Mistake!  I weighed myself on Monday morning and it hit 255 - I was so ticked at what had happened, I went to the store - bought all of my “good” foods (pt. shake, fruit, yogurt, cottage cheese) grabbed my little refrigerator and stuck it in my office.

I still have not figured out how to get workouts in while working 11 hour days and driving another 2+ hours per day but at least I need my diet to get back on track.  Please - someone - KICK my butt!  Keep me on track - I have a highly addictive personality and I need to change my addiction to one that is healthy!

By the way the carbohydrate withdrawal is killing me today with major headache and sluggishness.  This sucks and it is all my doing!

Time to get back to it…..

September 22, 2008

Well I guess I have taken enough time off.  After working so hard to meet my goal, I basically took two months off and I must say - I maintained where I wanted to but I feel the need to get back at it.  My weight has crept up to 215 so my goal is to take off 15 pounds in the next 8 weeks.  In doing this I am going to utilize my home gym as much as I can and perform cardio outside untill the weather gets nasty.  Overall, I am going for 8 weeks or untill I hit 200 pounds even - whichever is longer.

Time to get feeling better!

Keeping the ball rolling…

August 26, 2008

In the past five months, I have been able to accomplish something that I did not think possible.  Loosing almost 50 pounds while keeping my upper body measurements from going down.  Now in the past two weeks I have been taking it easy, still eating healthy just not so regimented as previously and pretty much slacking on a lot of the workouts.  But during this time my body has shown me there is more that I can do both in the fat burning side as well as the muscle gaining side of my training.

Getting back to the gym yesterday was like a breath of fresh air as I felt like I was reestablishing myself.  Not only did my workout and cardio go well but I felt a great deal of stress relief and I had one of the best days since I returned from my vacation.  With this little victory, I have revised my schedule for the week so that I can get into the gym at least 4 times this week (holiday makes it a bit tough) so that I can continue to keep the ball rolling and continue to feel better and better about life.

To think - all of these people who go to the doctor for pills when feeling stress and depression - Just get their butts into a gym and give it a go!

Maintaining - 8-18-08

August 18, 2008

Since my vacation I have kept my weight training going good (other than I should be at the gym right now - going tonight instead) but my eating has been a bit eratic.  I have decided that I am happy with where I am (for now) as the kids only have two weeks untill school starts and I want to spend a bit more time with them and focus on finding work.

My biggest obstical is going to be eating right.  It is difficult for me to maintain as I see to fluctuate wildly when not focusing on a specific goal and I hate that part.  My hope is that I will be able to stay where I am and then hit it again is September and see if I can drop to 205 (5 to 6 pounds off the mid section)  After that I would like to find out how to maintain weight and just loose BF.  Have never done that before so it could be a challange.

Energy - 8-13-08

August 13, 2008

Prior to my vacation I had been trying to cut a lot of weight, which I did a pretty good job at and I did most of it through a clean diet and weight training.  Toward the end of the time I thought my energy was fine although I had dropped a lot of carbs out of my diet to tey and burn those final few pounds.  Since my return, I have upped my calories to just over 3,000 per day and my carbs are at about 150 grams (mostly around my workouts).  Although my carbs are still a bit low I am amazed at the extra energy that I have in the gym and during the majority of the day.

My workouts have changed as well - now going a bit heavier with reps between 6 and 8 but I have shortened the rest periods as well so that I still get a decent amount of cardio work in my workouts.  Today was shoulders, traps and forearms and I did some of my best sets ever.  I was also amazed at the pumps I was getting as after my first set of upright rows my shoulders were popping and shortly thereafter I saw a couple of veins coming to the surface.

It’s got me geeked again!
