Not a lot of green

in my closet. And I really am Irish. Dangit. I hope they dont revoke my membership…Had a good one today tho. Squats and Clean and J..The Irish gym goddess was smiling on me…Got to show sonny boy who is boss on the squats (5 sets of 5) before he had the chance to whup me on the C/J.  Note to self: wear him out on before we get to the Olympic lifts…

Coming along!

Im keeping on with the Olympic lifts in spite of myself and my arthritically challenged middle. Today I worked on heavier snatch and cleans…4 sets of 3 at 60k snatch and similar cleans working up to 100k . I cleaned the 100 for two reps and then got the bright idea to try and jerk it. (this is funny) I must’ve been too tired in the shoulders , because I didnt get it up there, and caught it behind my head.  I was ok holding it, but it was an interesting problem to get it off of there. (Of course I wanted to maintain coolness at all times. )  There was no one else in the gym, so I decided to try and hold the bar with one hand and adjust the squat rack’s pegs to a high enough height with the other hand so as to set the weight on the rack gracefully.  I got one done, so far , so good, when a woman came through the door and I saw her in the mirror. I am getting pretty tired at this point and my left is going to be more difficult . I am certain she is coming over to offer help, (which I am trying to look like I obviously dont need while sweating profusely). Then she takes a left into the women’s locker room. I used the temporary repreive to move the other peg and set the weight down. When she comes out she says "you look like you are getting a good workout". I say some platitude like " im trying" …while gasping for breath and thinking , "lady, you have no idea" .  I escaped total embarassment while she got on the treadmill and hooked up her headphones.   whew…..overall it was a great workout but I think I burned some serious cal at the end with the panic episode.
