get up and move around ,

Monday, November 12th, 2007

"you’ll feel better".  That is my basic prescription for most belly aches, ass aches and etc.  My kids are sick of hearing it. So when I started feeling like crap last nite and still this morning it was my turn. I got up and went to work. Lucky for me I got a flat tire when I went to lunch, so I kinda blew the afternoon getting the tire fixed. Still left me with my 5:30 workout with Kyle and trainer man. We had deadlifts off some little boxes. (More than a lockout, less than a deadlift).  To my chargrin, K did 3 reps with 422lb. My turn and I managed 512, which I have done before, but not for reps. We got through 6 sets of 3, and lo and behold, I DO feel better.  No puking or anything. Guess there is some value to the old addage…hehhehehe…later.

competition and other stuff

Monday, November 5th, 2007

Ok, the kid (my son) did ok in his lifting competition saturday. 166 kilos. He aaaallllmost caught 76 in snatch and 100 in c and j however, which is a lot closer to his goal of 190 something he will need for Nationals.

I had an experience today also. Since the kid was having a back off week this week after the competition, trainer and I decided to have some fun today with deadlift lockouts. This is a deadlift off of a low box, so you are only lifting the weight mebbe 12 inches.  I tried and failed at 602 lbs, but I did reps with one less plate , (512). I never moved that much weight before , any way, any how!  THAT was fun. At that point, it is mostly about the grip.  If you get a good strong grip you feel you can do it. If not, you’re SOL. Feelin a little back strain right now, but what the hell. it was worth it. By wednesday it will be no more fun, back to training.
