Despite my fussing, I did 35 min of variable resistance, variable speed, ipod infused cardio on the eliptical contraption today, and it gets easier every time! Also according to the starship electronic controls burned near 600 calories , and kept my HR in the 160’s . This no doubt will atone for a couple glasses of wine and a piece of peach pie last nite. hehehehe….. seriously though, hard to get lean without some huffing and puffing. Plus, the fairly gentle (as compared to running) motion wont leave me so sore for a deadlift workout that is coming in the morning…good luck to all for a safe labor day.

okee doke, 15 reps of anything is a lot, but especially deads…WHAT posessed me?? Trainer man, of course. We have been kind of on this unloading kick for a while. Today was the first of a new split. Leg day. The verdict was 10 sets of 15 reps. We managed around 100k. Which doesnt sound like much, but it was a marathon! The first few were easy but by round 4 or 5 I was wishing for more rest. I am pretty pleased though, that my back , A) didnt hurt so bad, and felt pretty balanced and B) held out for all that work. Maybe if my SI joint stays intact through this cycle that Ill be moving up in weight on the 6 or eight rep stuff that will be coming down the pike. Finnished with 4 sets of Petersen step ups… Cardio tommorrow, upper body on Wednesday. And might I say that I will be AVOIDING the convention coverage.

Wow, havent blogged in like a month! I was on vaca for the best part of two weeks at the end of July. Went to climb Mt Monadonock (NH) , and slipped on the way down, hyperextending my toe. Seemed like the black and blue went away pretty fast, so I thought I was on the road to recovery, but its been a couple weeks and it still hurts. Kind of on the top, toward the second little piggy. When it gets sore, it swells. Ice every night isn’t gettin it. I think Ill need an MRI to figure this one out.
I have worked out, nonetheless. OH, and here’s another one. I was pretty active on vacation, but I didnt work out much. Ate ok, but not that clean, and drank at least a couple drinks every night. I was dreading the scale when I got back , and guess what? LOST about 6 lbs. Go figure! I think Ill go on the drinking-eat-like-s**t diet. Seems to work. Only think I can figure is that I was a little carb depleted and the rest and carbs agreed with me.

remember HS football when you had the two a day practices ? remember how you absolutely dreaded heading back to the locker room for the second session? (college as well, but that is all a blur in my mind).. well, that’s how I feel just now. I was committed to a specific schedule this weekend, and Im gonna do it, but my w/o partner just dogged me for the pm session and I am on my own. I dont know what good typing it here is going to do, but I had to do something to give the powder time to dissolve in my drink ,and help to kick my ass out the door. I think looking at some super lean bodies might help to guilt me into it. Arms and some UGH cardio , here I come…ttyal.

I never thought posting your picture on the internet was such a great idea beacause :
A. I dont think I look that great
B. There arent that many photos of me . (see A above)
C. I don’t (I didn’t ) have a camera. The one in the house is my wife’s and don’t get me started on what happens to whomever messes with that.
D. We arent supposed to be obsessed with our appearance, are we?
The other day , the camera I had borrowed from work had to go back. I had been enjoying taking pix of the new house and of my son’s competitions, so I went and bought one just like it of my own. This prompted some playing around with it, and since no one is home…"presto" a progress picture. In loading it on here, I discovered a few things about BB.com picture loading (sure Ill get better at it), but mainly that I needed two with diff dates to get it to post. SO, I go on the old archive files to look for a "before" shot. If you are brave enough to look at it, the one there is one of the few on my computer, (see B above), and here is the funny part: the reason this picture from 2005 even exists is because at the time I THOUGHT I LOOKED GOOD! Unbelievable. Lets not even discuss the necklace thing. I must’ve been on a left leaning binge that day. (Maybe its because I always liked the dad on Rocket Power.) So I load this darn thing on there and it shows up on "newest progress pix" !! Dangit! cant they fix that? if its supposed to be an embarrassing old "before" picture, its not meant to be plastered on a billboard. Luckily there is a lot of turnover on here, because it didnt stay there very long. So while my one current shot is nothing great, blown out by the flash, (Ill try and take another one day), it looks wonderful compared to 7/05. At least to me it does. hehehehe.
One last workout tommorrow am., and then off to the woods for a few days. I will probably do some manly work, and run a little, but no lifting and cycle off creatine. Will be a good break. Have a great 4th.

Just came in from running my weed whacker for a couple hrs….got the battle wounds to prove it. Spider webs, ant bites, thorns , scratches….wruff wruff wruff… Takes a good soak in the pool to sooth these. Which I am lookin forward too. Destroyed my shoulders this morning. Easy to do , because this is my best asset, and I like to work them. Shoulder press, external rotations, db flys. whoa. Also paired with various and sundrie lunges (dang trainer likes those. I think he grew up behind the iron curtain.) I read someone’s comment reccomending AGAINST cardio and weights in the same session. Sounds like a great idea to me! This guy is a Prophet , Im sure. Ill mebbe go for a run in the morning. Ciao..

Visited the Red Cross today…therefore, no workout until tommorrow am. I remember when I was in College we all thought that if you gave blood it would cost less to get a buzz….lol…I dont think it really worked. Anyone know how long it takes for your body to reproduce the blood? You cant give again for 8 weeks , I know that. Cardio almost daily continues…faint lines beginning to appear. See if I can avoid screwing it up this time. Weight is still pretty steady, although lifting and creatine will keep that up for a while…Someone on here said , "slowly but surely defeating the enemy". I am ok with slow and sure if the enemy in fact continues to weaken. hehehehehehehe nite

Maybe I can do it! Third day in a row of about 40 min of concerted effort on cardio. I did 10 min of tred….20 min of intervals on the elip, and then 10 one min runs at 9 mph … If I can keep this up along with my regular split, this just might do the trick. It seems that I am more motivated to keep the diet clean when I am in this mode as well. Kinda like I don’t want to mess things up! Kyle (my son and workout buddy) is at hockey tryouts today, and with the ice he will be getting shortly, he will buff up quickly. I will have to do an awful lot of running and treadmilling to keep up. Little bugger will be impossible..hehehehehe…Have a great weekend.
