Well I just finished up classes at THE Ohio State University
for spring quarter and am starting summer classes soon. My training has pretty much come to a halt. Along with this injured thumb, which seems to be a perpetual injury, I smashed my ankle by dropping two heavy tables on it when working… needless to say, i’m a disaster. I haven’t been in the gym for about 2 wks now and I don’t know how long it will be until I can go back in. Yes I could fight through the pain as I was doing before with my thumb, but I dont want to be 35 yrs old and have this agonizing pain with me still so i’m sucking it up and stopping until it heals. I’m pretty frustrated though, not gonna lie (as you can see, for I am writing about it) because this is only hindering my gains/strength. Im all about getting bigger though, but like everyone, dont want to put on the fat. I have reduced my caloric intake, carbs specifically, to about 300 or a little more. I dont think this is hurting me since I’m not working out, though I may be wrong.
Anyways, just wanted to jot this down. Hope everyone else is lifting hard and enjoying the summertime!

For about the last week my thumb has been pretty sore. I can move it around without much discomfort but every time I push down (putting pressure) on it I get this sharp pain and when I hold something I get that pain. My Mom told me it sounded like tendonitis because she had it last year and her doctor told her to take aleve and minimize use of it. If that doesn’t help then ultimately get a cortizone shot. This is frustrating because while a thumb doesn’t sound that bad, it’s used a lot in lifting and I dont know if I should continue to lift or take some time off. If anyone has any experience, please let me know what you did or how long it took to heal. Thanks!

So I have this pain in my right quad and has been occurring for a few weeks now. On Saturday I did my normal leg workout and squats were fine. It was when I got onto the Leg Press I started feeling it again. At first I thought it was just because of the weight and had to tough it out, which I had been doing for a few weeks. On Saturday though it was a different kind of pain, the kind of pain when your body tells you you’re not doing something it likes. I am pissed though because I was making some good progress with the weights but now i’m gonna have to hold off on the leg workouts until this is gone. If anyone has had a quad injury similar to this, what sort of treatment did you do? I have had a pulled quad muscle but this is kinda different. I really feel it when I bring my leg into my body like when you do the leg press motion. Weird but dont wanna do any permanent damage so i’m gonna take it easy.

So recently I’ve been more hectic than usual and am seeing the difficulties faced with this lifestyle. It is not so much fitting the workout in, but rather the eating healthy/constantly. There is also the issue with people saying shit to you about eating so healthy. I know people deal with this often, but I am just experiencing it so just felt like getting off of my chest (which I am looking to improve haha). If people reading this wouldn’t mind sharing, what sort of convenient meals are good for on-the-go or bring with you meals at say, your work? Thanks people and hope everyone has a good holiday coming up!
