My trip to see fam and friends was a lot of fun. I miss the bonds I developed over the years. It amazes me how even though I see myself as way out of shape, everyone was in thought i was fit. Guess I am my worse critic. I actually ate like I had some sense and got some cardio in, so I did ok.

I was packing my things and just thinking about how the economic changes and people I grew up with seem to be stuck in a rut. I mean everyone stopped growing. Mentally that is. Like there is no ambition. Just satisfied with the status quo. I refuse to do that. No one is putting a ceiling on my growth. Thats mentally and physically (Thanks to BB).

Guess I am just putting my thoughts down. In this season of giving, I feel BB gives inspiration, motivation, and desire for more. For that I am grateful.

I should get back early enough to get my week set up; food, clothes, workout schedule, etc… Let have a great week people!

And my response was… and I quote "What the F*@k!"

I knew I was slippin, but sometimes reality will jump up and bite you. Well it took a chunk out of my ass and I am threw.
Now I can do the turkey, and standard veggies (especially the ones I made), but there are a ton of cakes, cookies, and other sweets down there… I had to leave the setup room earlier. I am hoping to take a seat far away from the serving table. I think this coupled with the fact that I know “one cannot eat everyones cooking”, will help me get through it without issue.

Now next week when I am at moms…. That’s a whole nother blog… wont be pretty. My peeps can C.O.O.K!!!!

Everyone have a terrific Thursday!

Demands to get things done by year end had put my ability to time manage in a state of chaos. I have been trying to do 2-a-days, but not having much success. Missed my morning session today. More pissed at myself for not getting up then anything else. Now I have to keep myself focused and go in this evening to make up for it. That’s hard because after an hour long commute home (yeah gotta love Atlanta traffic) I am usually just lookin forward to unwinding on my lazyboy chair with sportscenter. I plan on squeezing an intense session in at lunch. Maybe that will get me back on track. We will see.

Every now and then you have to prove things to yourself. My goal today was to get some cardio in, then hit chest with whatever time I had left on my lunch break. After a 20 minute HIIT session, I walked over to the bench and thought… Lets do it.

I usually never go higher than 275lbs on the bench since I work out alone, but today I needed to push myself. I called one of the employees over to spot me, and threw 315 on the bar. I told him I was only going to do 5. When I threw the 10th rep off my chest. I was cool. It was enough to stroke the ego. I did a set of 8 at 295, 8 at 275, then 12 at 225.

300 lbs on the bench use to be my goal, when I smashed threw some 20 years ago, it remained the performance marker for me. I know it is nothing to a lot of guys on here, but I no longer lift for size, so its good to know I can press through it with no problem.

Ate clean today (so far). One down, 6 to go.

Anyway, knowing that my weight was soaring (thanks Mr.. scale), I was prepping myself for a cardio blast.

Enter leg workout… It has been months since I hit legs, and I felt good. Good that is until the next night.. I felt like someone put a harness on me and it was 2 sizes too tight.

And day 2? OMG! Stairs in the house had me whining with each step…. So why do I stop working out? I don’t know….

This week I will kick the cardio up in an effort to slim before the holiday.

Wednesday is my busiest day in the office. It is difficult for me to get out to the gym, workout, and then get back in time for my afternoon meetings. But because I have been away from the gym for a week now, I knew I had to get in there. I decided to use the gym at work and hit my arms. They have limited equipment, but something is better than nothing, right?

Started with biceps. Dumbbell curls, hammer curls, preacher curls… did a lot of sets to get the burn.

Triceps work has always been my favorite. Nothing like that swell that comes from a good triceps workout. Skin so tight it feels like its going to rip open. LOVE IT!!!

So today, remember limited equipment, I hit the rope cabled press downs, & overhead extensions. I could feel the pump, but knew they did not have a standing dip station. That’s when I saw a dip machine. I thought Hmmm let me try this out. Weight went to 330, so I told myself lets do it.

Set 1 - 20 reps

Set 2 - 18 reps

Set 3 - 16 reps Yeah, the swell… I could feel it!

Set 4 - 12 reps

Set 5 - 10 reps

Set 6 - 10 reps and I was done. But the rush…. MMmmmm The rush! Woohoo! Dips dips dips. Love it.

Hope everyone had a good hump day!

Peace

There is nothing like the feeling of a good workout that leaves your muscle pumped, your body spent, and the knowledge that today was a good day.

I have slowly been trying to work my conditioning back to where it was since my injury. Between stiffness in the mornings leading to spasms or treadmills that just are build for all you slim, fit people, I have been reduced to walking on an incline for the most part during my cardio sessions.

Today I was determined to hit it aggresively. I used the Sprint 8 technique with is similar to the HIIT program in todays session. 20 minutes later, I completed my 2 miles with (8) 30 second sprints at times ranging from 9.5 to 11.5. Felt pretty good, but wanted to hit arms while i was there as well. Blood was pumping, and I increased the weight for my bicep routine. Lets just say its been a while since I felt the total burnout in my biceps. It was a goood hurt too:-)

Next I went dip crazy since I only had 10 minutes before a meeting at work. WOOOOO! when I was done I felt like one of those video game characters after a victory. Swollen and taking deep breaths.

Now thats whats up! Tomorrow I will try a 2-a-day. Core and cardio in the AM and Legs in the PM.
