Just felt like bloggin

Tuesday, March 31st, 2009

Well I am officially back in the saddle. Started my new core workout yesterday, provided by the guru Niknak (Team Niknak, LOL). I don’t think I have felt soreness in my hip flexors like that ever. It was more fatigue than anything else. But they were so bad, running was not an option. I did get 20 minutes in walked uphill at 4.2.

Today I will go over and get 20-30 minutes of cardio in. I am feeling pretty good. ShanBL and Mamaof2 have me inspired. Both should be competing (LOOKING AMAZING), but are content. I can respect that. Anyway, hope everyone has a lovely Tuesday!

Day 2, Part two & some observations…

Friday, March 13th, 2009

Went to the gym last night and worked shoulders and back

Machine Shoulder Press - 3 sets 286 lbs (20, 15, 12)

Dumbbell Side Lat Raises - 3 sets 10 reps at each weight per set - 40lbs / 25 lbs

Dumbbell Shrugs - 3 sets of 15 - 75 lbs

Lat pull downs - 3 sets of 10 - 154 lbs

Seated Rows - 3 sets 10 reps - 154 lbs

One-arm rows - 3 sets of 20 - 60 lbs

While I was at the gym I noticed two teenagers working there abs the majority of the time. When I walked by, I said, "I need to get down there with you." They stopped and said "we need to work arms with you. We are getting ready for spring break." I just told them keep working hard. The both out of respect said "yes sir".

I have been taught that iron sharpens iron, and that all truths are parallel. Now I won’t get religious, but I know when I see someone at the gym working hard, it inspires me to push on even though my mind (the battlefield) wants me to stop. In the way these youngsters  encouraged me to press on, I in turn inspired them. And I wasn’t even on arm day. LOL

How we walk through life has such an impact on those we come in contact with…. both directly and indirectly.

Just me reflecting…. Hope everyone has a great Friday. I got 18 holes of golf in the morning, and Arms in the afternoon! Woohoo!

Arnold Classic proved its time to quit playing

Tuesday, March 10th, 2009

Well my rather enjoyable trip to Arnold has motivated me to quit playing. I have my new 12 week goal set and look forward to hitting the beach this summer in shape.

I will post weekly updates, tracking both nutritional and weight statistics as well. I will call this Phase I 2009. Goal is 225. 20 lbs – 12 weeks! Once again its on!

How about that

Saturday, March 7th, 2009

I get to Columbus and call up my boys. We get out, and its about 8. So we are in the Spice Room up here just chatting with folks in the lounge nothing major. Get a little something to eat. A couple hours later (and a few adult beverages), we decide to check out the club part. Now my friend is not up on who’s who in BB. But we are seeing that there are some guys definitely in shape here.

First thing I see when I step around the corner, in a suit Jay Cutler. I am like OH SHHHH! I tell my friend, "yo that was Jay Cutler. He was Mr. O two years ago." Before he could respond, who was right in front of us? Dexter Jackson! I am like UNBELIEVABLE!!!!!

I didnt want to seem like a little "girly man" and pull out the camera and start asking for pics and autographs, so i just gave then a "what’s up" with a pat on the shoulder.

Turns out MuscleTech was sponsoring a party and so that brought the big names out.

Jay, Dexter, Chris Cormier, Darrem Charles, etc…

Met alot of people in town for the show. Mad shout out to the crew from Dallas. They were alot of fun.

Great Monday

Tuesday, March 3rd, 2009

I was back into my normal routine yesterday. I went to the gym at lunch and paid a visit to Ms. T. (Treadmill if you are not familar)

Anyway. I said I would do 30 minutes and see how far I could go. I was only able to push it for stretches, but was very pleased with the results.

30 min., 2.90 miles, 652 calories burned.

I felt like ShanBL makin power moves. LOL

Today I planned on getting a 20 min HIIT session in, but I have the roofer and AT&T here. And they are taking FOREVER!!! I can’t leave because they are here, or my dog will lose his mind.
