Ego Trippin

Yeah I know, simple, but I am a man right..

 

Sometimes life will beat your ego down, & then lift you back up. I went to the Hawks game Friday night. I had outstanding seats, so I was mingling with the “it” crowd. The groupies were out in full effect. For 3 hours, I did not get a first or second look. Just call me “chopped liver”. LOL

 

Well Saturday night I went to a party with a friend of a friend was throwing. Normally these are stuffy affairs, but I try to smile and not fall asleep in the corner. Most of the people there I have not scene since April. As I did the standard “Oh, hey. Great to see you. How’s the family” bit, it noticed people started giving me handshake and going out there way to say hi. I was going to make my way to the corner E-Z chair when I got 5-10 people moving my way.

 

“B, have you been in the gym? I can always tell with you.” 

“Wow. What have you been doing? You look great.”

 

I was a bit taken aback. Less than 24 hours after not being looked at except to tell me to move, I was actually being noticed.  Hmmm. I stayed as humble as possible considering I have 6 to go for goal, and 2009 will be a hot one. I gave my standard answers.

 

“Me? I drive by the gym every once and awhile.”

“Just trying to watch what I eat.” Or my favorite, “no I just buy big close and grow into them.” That one always gets a laugh.

 

Anyway, felt pretty good to see that there was some noticeable change and folks could see it. Now I just have to press on to the finish.

 

Today’s workout:

Morning session – 20 min HIIT (2.26 miles, 401 calories)

 

Will do chest this for lunch. Work on problem area #2.

 

Friday Arms

Friday, December 5th, 2008

I carpooled today, so I had to use the gym here at work. They have a decent set of dumbbells, but not a lot of free weights. I decided to take all my frustrations out on my arms today. And I now have my keyboard on my lap. LOL

 

Alt. Dumbbell curls – 10 reps each (50, 45, and 40)

Hammer curls – 3 sets (35 lbs)

Machine Preacher curls – 3 sets (110 lbs) 15, 12, 10 reps

 

Brain busters – 3 sets – 15 reps (95 lbs)

Tricep Press downs – 3 sets of 15 (120 lbs)

Seated dips – 3 sets 25 reps

Machine dips – 3 sets of 10 – 330 lbs

 

Tomorrow I will do my long run. Hope to get in 4-5 miles, then Legs on Sunday.

Day 2 - Shoulders & Back

Day 2 – Shoulders and Back

 

I set my alarm to get up early like my heroes Mama & ShanBL *smile*.

 

20 minute HIIT session- 365 calories 2.06 miles

I also got a good shoulder and back workout for lunch.

 

Machine Press – 275 lbs 3 sets (17, 15, 12 reps)

Lateral Raises – 3 sets 30lb/20lb dumbbells – 10 of each

Rear Delts (Fly machine) – 3 sets 180 lbs – 10 reps

Dumbbell shrugs – 3 sets 70 lbs - 15 reps

Lat Pulldowns – 3 sets 144 lbs – 10 reps

Seated rows – 3 sets 156 lbs -10 reps

 

Tomorrow arms!
