Progress Update -

Wednesday, September 3rd, 2008

I set myself a personal mental goal of being able to bicep curl 50 kilo db’s. Now that is a lot of metal to handle! So how is my progress? Currently i can db curl for biceps at 42 kilos - this week all sets at 42 kilos - so next week i will attempt the 44 kilo db for the final set. I am progressing in the right direction and thats a good thing.

training hard

Friday, August 29th, 2008

Its not often i post here - i used to real regular but otherthings take my time these days - especially helping on other training manuals. I am currently using a 4 week alternating traing programme - 4 weeks of real heavy weights - 4 sets of 7 reps - followed by 4 weeks of lighter - 5 sets - 15 reps. I couple this with a 4 week carb out diet for the light tone weeks and 4 weeks carb stepping on the heavy sessions. my findings are that carb cutting only effects endurance - you can cut and lift real heavy - its the stamina aspect that lacks.

So where do i go from here

Monday, August 25th, 2008

I just got to 20 inch upper arms - now most people have a 15/16 neck so as puny as it sounds it is pretty good. Next month is my 52 nd birthday and i would really like to try pulling a train but it ain’t gonna happen - though i might get to pull a small cargo plane - the local airport is a small private concern and they are not adverse to good publicity. I know what i can achieve but secretly i want to achieve beyond that but don’t we all.

The supp question!!!!!

Friday, July 18th, 2008

Yesterday a friend of mine rapped my knuckles for daring to lower Gasparis Size On from "the mother of all creatines [ his words - not mine ] to mere good supp level. Size On is a good supp but its no where near as good as Nuclear Garbage or for that matter Garbage [ both by Garbage] and they pale in the shadow of the God of all Creatine matrixes - the one the only Evolution X10. trust me , i have tried them all! How great is Evolution X10 - look at my avatar , then look at the progress pics. remember evolution X10 is my latest supplement - see the change - it certainly made a huge difference. In my opinion and my opinion only [ i have no supp company affliations or sponsorship - nor will i ever have!] - if you buy one supp make sure its Evolution X10 - it rocks - big time!

Best supps!!!!!!!!

Thursday, July 17th, 2008

I figure everybody who uses supps has a favourite - and those who never use have a far proportion of people who are more than a little put off by the sheer choice of supps available. I have tried several different ones and i am going to list what i consider to be the best - in 3 different categories , pre - work ; in - work & post work. These are not necessarily the cheapest but i find they work the best.

Pre - work out supp - best of category is Armageddon. This is made by Starchem Labs , its got a real pump and kick. Forget Horsepower or superpump 250 , they are for amateurs compared to this heavyweight.

In - workout supp - Best in category is EvolutionX10 , again by Starchem Labs. This makes Size on look like a mere coloured water compared to the mighty pump of evolution. Prepare for lifting mammoth weights with this.

Post workout supp - The best is Anabolic OD by Muscle asylum. There is nothing in this category that even gets close to this heavyweight supp.

For those on a budget - best budget brands are both by Garbage - Garbage - good kick from this & Nuclear Garbage - that works real well.

Change of phase

Thursday, July 10th, 2008

For the next 4 weeks i will be in a build phase - i have been working on strength - now its time to work on shape and tone.So the weights will drop and the sets and reps will increase - its time to shape those muscles - add a little texture. Got my 2 friends [ Evolution X10 & Armageddon ] to help along with my mentor - the Mighty but aged Wouter. Kind of figure that if Wouter can’t build it - its not possible to build it! Anyway - my 2 best friends - the Star labs duo - will give great assistance in the work load . For anyone looking for 2 great supplements - don’t wait or hesitate - Armageddon [ pre -work] & Evolution X10 [ in -work / post work ] are definitely the best 2 available at this stage. Not badly priced either -tried the Gaspari duo - they also work but not as well as the Star duo - and the taste - well forget it! Going to test Muscle Asylum - but not until the next strength phase - so will keep you posted.

Truck pull

Tuesday, July 1st, 2008

Got a wildcard entry into a strongman contest on saturday - one of the competitors had to pull out due to a bad hamstring and a friend put my name forward as a replacement.I learnt a lot - 8 competitors including myself - all except me under 35 - and i placed third. When i consider i was not ready for this - it gives me hope for the autumn. The winner said to me that given my age i was awesome - that make me feel real good - as he is a professional and does this for a living. He was in the comp due to his sponsor being the sponsor of the event. For a last minute thing as standin i performed well - won the truck pull [ against a pro - haha] and placed no lower than 4 th in all the other events - way to go i think!

Armegeddon is clearly better!

Monday, June 23rd, 2008

I recently tested 3 pre work out pumps - Universals animal pump , Gaspari’s Superpumped 250 and Star labs Armegeddon. It was really no contest - animal pump is pills and the effect is short lived - too short - so 3/10 for Universal on that! Gaspari product superpumped 250 - well it works but no kick or buzz - evil taste - all of gaspari products taste like crap , made by a demented dwarf like chemist out to punish us i think! However it does work but gives no help on increasing either weightloads or sets or reps. The pump in the locker room is good but its not got that edge , the edge that would make it stand out! So Gaspari , - 5/10 - would have been 7/10 but its way overpriced for its effects! So - the winner is Armegeddon by Star - on in work supps - there EvolutionX10 topped Size On easily - Great pump , increased weight load - sets and reps - the best pre work supp - i have tried - 9/10 - plus great taste.

Its not a question of willlpower- its science!

Tuesday, June 17th, 2008

For 2 weeks running i have managed to rep - 350 kilos deads but any extra and i can only get one lift. Its not a question of too much iron the bar - nor that i believe that its not possible to lift it - rather it is a question of science! I am unconvinced - alarmingly so - that human fingers are not designed for taking such extreme weights. Going to continue with the tennis ball squeezing to see if i can muscle just a little more out of the fingers. One thing is sure - i am not resorting to straps , gloves or hooks! Others can - no problem - but i want to do this "au Natural "

results - so far!

Saturday, June 14th, 2008

As my last blog mentioned - i am testing 3 pre work out supps , using myself as the lab rat , so you don’t have to! So far , my inital findings are this:

Animal pump by Universal /Its a reasonable supp , not too expensive but like a lot of Universal products , its tablets. That personally is a turn off - the bulk of these are difficult to swallow , one or two are on the outer limits for horses i would imagine. However it gives a good pump and does the job. Not the greatest buzz but not bad.

Superpumped250 by Gaspari - This is a little more expensive but it is a powder and that is preferable. The worse thing about Gaspari is the evil flavouring - get your act together Gaspari - i mean we ain’t brain dead morons without taste buds! You wouldn’t be aware of a buzz - but it gives a real good pump - and acts well.

Armegeddon by Star - This is a similar price to Gaspari but tastes way better -real heavy buzz and great pumps! Got to admit i like it already!

If i was going to drop one of the 3 - it would be Animal Pump! Whilst it works - being pills its a pain in the butt -
