Amazing how countries differ!
Sunday, September 7th, 2008Watching CNN this morning and during the sponsors adverts one for Vestas planet in peril caught my attention about waste recycling and an American city just introducing food scrap waste recyling for composting! Here in Holland the first glass recycling en masse began in the early 1950’s and food waste recycling started about 10 years after. Most Dutch recycle as a matter of course , it is natural to do so. In Germany the waste disposal is divided totally - paper [ Holland also] plastic [ Belgium does this but not Holland] - food scraps -general waste. Our rubbish dumps here are recyling orientated - you divide it to its main component. Hence pure waste is very small compared to what it is for other countries. Why do i mention this : well i figure we should all do it , thats why!
