Physical Mental Games
Friday, October 5th, 2007Today I was at my personal training job and my GM was taking my picture for the company website. I was looking at them trying to figure out which one was best suited for the website. Something really stood out to me.
I have just over the past 2 weeks started my mass-gaining diet. I dialed down to 5% body fat peak just a week or two earlier. Some pictures had been taken around that time and one thing that looked really noticeable to me was how tight my face was. Usually, my face/cheeks are slightly soft and pudgy and it looked really weird to see my face so tight like that.
Well, those days are now gone. Looking at the pictures on her camera reminded me that I have indeed put some fat on since then and put it on quickly. What a blow to the head/mind! I worked pretty daggum hard to get that lean and now it’s like it was all for nothing.
I mean, I was freakin’ 142 ripped; now I’m 157 at around 10%. I must confess I went from eating around 2500+ calories to now 3200+ but it just sucks that it had to come back on that quick. I do know that I added about 5 pds of muscle over the entire 6 month cut. But it really makes me wonder if I should do cardio or go about 10 weeks gaining, then 10 weeks cutting. Would I ever get ahead in the long run? I would imagine so if my strength keeps improving but I want to get around 185-190 ripped and it may take forever that way…
I guess I’ll figure it out sooner or later which approach would be optimal. Feel free to let me know your thoughts if anyone has any!
