Just come back llater...?
Today seemed like a good day , I woke up and took a good protein shake since I get sick if I eat too much food for breakfast due to my medical issues , then I started my normal routine , I started with some dynamic stretches ( not static, as these have been proven to reduce your overall performance in a workout if done pre workout)
Then since its chest/back day and my Chest is lacking more then my back I started off with a good compound chest movement hitting my weakest area ( Inner chest) close Grip Bench Press. I warmed up with 135lbsx20 like normal then put 225 up for 10 reps , 235 for 8 , 255 for 6 and....It hit me , I just felt extremely sick , unmotivated and tired , I couldn't feel any pump or tightness in my muscles signifying the start of a good workout , just an extreme energy low. Usually by this point I feel my Chest and Triceps really good ,have a decent pump and can tell im working hard but I just felt like crap honestly....
So I stopped...yes I stopped , I felt guilty and really hated to but I wasn't getting what I am supposed to out of my workout , basically just going through the motions and feeling horrible. I came back later this afternoon and picked up where I left off though and felt great , I finished my entire workout , took a post workout shake and saved the day,
So let that be a note to you guys , don't just go through the motions in a workout, if your not feeling the muscles working and a sense of actual progress just come back later! You will prevent a lot of injuries this way and end up getting a lot more work done later then just breezing through it now.
General Life and workout brief Log
Today was my arms day which is biceps/ Triceps in the morning and Shoulders/ Traps at night . upon waking I did 100 push ups as soon as my feet hit the ground because I aim training for 200 consecutive push ups. I took a protein shake of around 40grams because I don't normally eat a big breakfast anyway and didn't feel like it today at all.
After my workout I read a thread about the extreme dips crew and decided I would try to enter that so I tested my dips for the first time in a year and happily did 5 sets of 20 full reps.
Tonight I will work Shoulders and Traps , probably starting with shoulders since my traps have always grown without much focus and I mix up orders on muscles depending on my current weakness.
On a side note I have been following Arnolds advice closer lately and doing 1 heavy exercise to start off every workout, increased my arm size half an inch in the last few weeks as well which I contribute to this and a shocking method only workout I did last Saturday.
For example on Barbell curls today I started with wide grip Barbell Curls.
Reps: 15,10,8,6,4
Weight: 80 , 100,100,100,100, 125.
