trek at the tech

Non-training
We went to The Tech Museum (San Jose) to see the Star Trek exhibit this morning. TV (and movie) nostalgia. It includes a replica of TOS bridge. That is interesting to see. For example, Uhura sat right behind Kirk. She’s the communications officer, but has to turn around to see the main communications view screen. We weren’t allowed take any pictures in that exhibit, but they would take our picture for us in the bridge and in the transporter room, then we can buy the pictures for a nominal fee. We didn’t. There was the time-display arch/ring from "City on the Edge of Forever" (the episode with Edith Keeler and "stone knives and bear skins"). There was also a hallway and a cabin from TNG. The exhibit included maybe fifteen or twenty costumes plus different gadgets, e.g., phasers, communicators, and ship models from the different shows.

The gift shop had tribbles, so the ten-yo daughter had to have one of those, being a stuffed animal. It makes the tribble purr and screech.

i would have loved seeing that being the uber geek that I am….and yes I would have bought a tribble for my desk. I would love to make it screech when annoying people came near.

As a kid, I used to spend every summer with my dad working at trek conventions all over the US. My dad created Wondercon and he owned Comics and Comixs. I was never a trekkie because to me it was always work. Lol. However, I was always impressed to see people’s love for Star Trek. Great memories from those times.

I didn’t know you liked Star Trek, I love it (most of the spin offs too). Sounds like fun. :)

What a rip! I guess the trek thing is bigger than my understanding…then again if I knew where the knight rider car was being held I might go steal it and smoke the tires at 110 in third gear…might cost a pretty penny for helicopter deployment to catch me! haha

Good to see you got some time out to do something else. I’m not a big star trek fan myself but it’s always neat to see different things. The picture deal is pretty much the same everywhere now. Money hungry idiots want 15 bucks for a .25 cent picture. Keep havin fun Brad thats what its all about

Isnt’ there some sort of issue with tribbles? What is "The Trouble with Tribbles?"

While I’m a little young to have watched TOS, I was a huge fan of TNG. Loved that show!
