So many opinions, so few real answers.
One of the things about bodybuilding/fitness that is unique is the fact that we are all different and there is no clear cut right answer for how everyone should do it. In fact, some of the more basic questions dont even have a real answer. For example, how much protein can one absorb and utilize at one meal. I have heard and read everything from 15 grams up to 70! Is there a correct answer?? Not one that is accepted universally and backed by hard evidence. Yet everyone you talk to knows how much you should take in! Also, whats the best way to burn off bodyfat?? Everyone knows the answer to this as well! Cut carbs and fat, do morning cardio, do cardio after lifting, use extreme supplements, etc, etc. The truth is that we all must try differnet things, experiment with varied techniques, and then form our own personal answer to these types of questions. Our own experience and observations, coupled with some intelligent analysis, will provide the answers to bodybuilding’s more difficult questions. If you maintain or build muscle by ingesting only 15 grams of protein per meal, then you know that is at least a minimum….likewise, if you increase that number to 50 grams and see no noticeable difference, then you know that your optimum protein intake lies somewhere between 15-50. Too many times I have fallen victim to the know-it-alls that love to tell you just what you should be doing. I believe that bodybuilding and fitness are the supreme individual sport/hobby and each of us should blaze our own path. Does that mean not to listen to anyone?? Of course not! But dont take protein consumption advise from someone who is waif-thin, or mass-building advise from a lightweight competitor who hates how big the current bodybuilders have become, or even fat-loss advise from an NFL Offensive Lineman! The real answers are within us and waiting to be discovered through hard work and intelligent planning.
