Starting to Lose Motivation
I don’t know whats going on but for some reason I’m really losing motivation. Today it took almost two hours to do a workout that should have taken thirty minutes less. NOt only that I just couldn’t put up the numbers like I usually do. I don’t know its seeming very drab around here. I’m lacking somewhere. I really need to lose a lot of this weight around my chest and stomach. I think those are my worst areas. Any who, I’m about to hit the sack, if someone could leave some words of motivation it woujld be nice I really feel down in the Weightlifting dumps.

Maybe you’re getting brunt out- are you getting enough rest on your off days? Maybe what you need to do is take a couple days to rest and then hit it strong again! You can do it!

sounds like you need to write yourself out a new plan and set yourself week by week short term achievable goals. Thats what I do when I feel demotivated.

There are some good articles about motivation at this website. It helped me greatly. One thing I did was to break down my exercise routine and determine which ones I enjoyed and the others I don’t (lunges!). Then I focused on the routines I liked and would add one that I did not like but knew that I should do it.

Man for 1..STOP feeling sorry for your self….2.like MEG says, get some REST, there is a thing called overtraining and you have prolly burnt urself out trying to see results in little time, have the faith that all things are obtainable, maybe u need to switch up workouts…Crossfit, circuit training, aerobics, cardio based, even boxing, man i know i dont have half the greatest physique as the men on here but i beleive that we all can help each other as a one..think about the ones who want to get to the gym and cant walk, have no arms, in a hospital bed, can never lift a weight, im not saying pity noman nor woman but yet i am saying DIG DEEPER than you have been..i believe in you, meg, myself all of us..if you have questions just ask…be easy..HAVE FAITH

Times like THIS is when scheduling your workouts and sticking to them matters. It’s easy to get to the gym when you are motivated, but alot of times you may not. And you are going to have to just go and put up whatever weights you can for that session. Also, diet is such a big part of being able to lift and recover. Look at your diet, is it clean? Are you eating regularly? If not, these could be factors, too.

I’m right there with DFraz. You might be ‘overtraining’. Sounds like a lot of the symptoms. When it comes to working out, especially weight training, MORE is NOT always better. In Fact, sometimes LESS is better for most. Without knowing your program and your splits, workouts, rest days, diet, etc. etc. I can’t say whether that’s the cause of it or not, but it sounds like it. If it is the case, then you need to take some time off to recover. If that’s not what the problem is, then everyone else is right when they say you have to suck it up and push through. I’d recommend posting your diet and your weekly training split and routine so we can take a better look at what it is you’re doing and where you may need to make changes so you don’t push yourself TOO far over the edge. Keep up the great work though! Don’t give up! Just make the neccessary changes and push through it

Wow, DFraz, couldn’t have said it any better. Right on point with that response.
It’s easy when you feel good, it’s when you don’t feel it that you have to dig down and make it happen. That is when you really find out what you’re made of. You should use those down days as motivation to push yourself to the next level. If you are not burned out, then you have lost focus. Redirect yourself and just get it done, cause you know that you can.
