Day 2 of the comeback

Thursday, September 27th, 2007

Did back today, was a little tentative since it was my back muscles that tensed up and caused me to have to take time off.  Outside of the muscle fatigue from not using them for two weeks it was a good workout and I made sure that I stretched between each set.  Pull ups, t-bar rows, seated rows and hammer strength pulldowns, didn’t want to kill it and got a good burn.  I am just happy to be back there and getting a good workout without jacking myself up.

Layoff time is over

Wednesday, September 26th, 2007

Well apologies to my body and blog for not maintaining you these past two weeks.  The pain in my wrist got to the point were simple tasks were becoming rather difficult, then one morning I wake up with a pain in my neck that went all the way down to my glutes.  Some needed rest and two visits to the chiropractor and I made my return to the gym yesterday.  Chiro did recommend that I get more involved with stretching and getting a massage at least twice a month and no more heavy squats.

It felt good to get back in the gym yesterday, I was feeling very lethargic and slow since my last workout.  I did chest and abs today, didn’t go to hard since I knew that I would struggle with fatigue.  I did one less chest exercise then I normally due (no decline) and did incline hammer strength rather than the incline bench.  Triceps gave out in the later sets as I expected but it was a good first day workout, I’m expecting the rest of the week to go this way as well.  Next week I should back in full swing.

Days just keep getting better

Wednesday Back

Thursday, September 6th, 2007

Four days rest really did me good!  I had a very productive back workout, started with some pull ups to get warmed up and stretched.  Hit the t-bar row first and wanted to go heavy and I did, started with two plates and ended with 3 plates for 6 reps, on the last set I did the 6 reps and dropped down to 2 plates for a set of 10, good pump after that.  Rest of workout took off right after that, did seated close grip rows, d-bell rows and hammer strength pulldowns.

Did something different this week to, I did hamstrings with back, typically after I’m done with quads I really have nothing left for the hammy’s.  Worked out well for me, my last back exercise were stiff legged dead lifts which is a good transition into hamstrings.  Followed up with leg curls and individual leg curls, today I will try to do more cardio before working out.

After the long weekend

Wednesday, September 5th, 2007

Took a good four days off to give my body a much needed rest especially for my right hand which has been bothering me quite a bit lately.  Had a great chest workout last night, started out a little heavy on bench press and then did more reps on incline and decline.  Both incline and decline I was getting sets of 8 since I didn’t have a spotter didn’t want to get caught by fatigue but I increased weight with each set and made a lot of improvement.  Finished off with incline and flat d-bell flies 3 sets of 10 for each and got a good stretch with both exercises.
