Frustrated
Yeah, I know I shouldn't weigh myself daily. I've just been doing it lately to see if I notice any pattern.
I'm increasing the intensity this week, doing sprints on the elliptical and I added distance to my running and yesterday I was up 1 lb. and today, I'm up 2 lbs.!!!!!
What happened to calories in and calories out? I take in an average of 1800 calories. Last night I look in a little over 1900.Â
Just venting to no one lol! It's 11 am in Germany and I need to get my arse outside and run. Don't wanna......
The cold had reality: Weighing yourself daily is a WASTE OF TIME. And guaranteed to drive you crazy. My weight can vary as much as 3-5 lbs from 1 day to the next. With the variables of digestion. What, when & how much you last ate, salt content, water retention, etc. Stop weighing yourself daily.
Plus, 1 lb of bodyfat is equivalent to 3500 calories. So you have to burn 3500 cal's MORE than you consume, to lose 1 lb of BF. Even a 500 daily deficit of calories leads to only 1 lb of BF lost in 1 week. That's why I only check my weight about once a month. Definitely not more often than once a week, or two.
It's not worth the frustration to weigh yourself daily......
Yep, you are right. Don't weigh yourself every day despite the temptation. Try weighing in on a Monday morning before breakfast each week. You will swing too wildly to get an accurate reading daily and it is only disheartening. You may go up slightly in weight as you convert fat to lean/dense muscle so don't stress. Body measurements are the best way to see forward progress. Do your clothes feel loser on you? Best of luck with your goals and enjoy your run.
Thank you Al and gashsam. You're right, of course and I knew that. Sometimes I just get anxious with the weight and want it gone as if weighing myself daily is going to help that lol
I weigh myself every Sunday and started this weighing daily a couple of weeks ago and it is only frustrating me. Nothing like killing yourself only to go in the opposite direction and I KNOW that I'm not REALLY doing that.
I think I have some hidden insecurities about the amount of calories I'm taking in and keep thinking maybe it is just too much. Maybe I don't burn as many calories as a normal person does. The other time I was very obese, I did a liquid diet on 800 calories for a few months and dropped 85 lbs. (as you can see that worked out well) and it's hard to believe 1800-1900 calories is okay but Emma Leigh knows her stuff.
Interestingly, I felt like I looked better in the mirror and felt a bit lighter so I was shocked to see the # up. I weigh weekly to report my weight to Emma Leigh so she can make suggestions. I also have 11/2 weeks to the end of this transformation and I'm getting my BF done tomorrow.
Okay, I feel a bit better. Waste....no more until weigh in day.
Thanks so much! ****ght, time to get the arse outside.
Oh and gasham, my jeans fall down completely. No kidding. I was showing my husband last night. I took the belt off and they fell to the floor. I wear a belt in a poor attempt to keep them up and the belt loop broke the other day so I have nothing to keep them up lol
My husband asked me when I was going to go buy something for myself. Military base has poor choices and I need to order online. Just can't shop around with 3 kids.
Weighing yourself puts your mind in a prison. I used to weigh myself 3-4 times a day and it could really stress me out. Hell your weight will vary day to day from your period, to stress to how much water you drank today. I quit weighing myself 2 years ago and I am sosooooooooo much happier!!

You're right Robin.
Well mine won't vary from my period lol I'm almost 51.
When I reach maintenance, I will probably decrease even the weekly weigh in but right now I need to do it so Emma Leigh can adjust my calories and macros and it gives her a baseline. We also use BF measurements and the tape.
I see your point though. Thanks!
