So I’ve wanted to write all week but life got in the way. I’ve written posts in my mind, but finding the time to sit and type – that seems too selfish for some reason. I think it’s the at-home mom in me. Gotta do for everyone else before myself. Ugh. Throw in a dash of Catholic guilt and I’m done.
My best friend’s mom was admitted to the hospital Tuesday evening and lo and behold, she had a “silent” heart attack at some point recently! Holy $**t! She had quad bypass on Thursday. She’s only 65! Scary thing is my friend’s dad has his 1st heart attack at 42 and died from another one 10 years later. Things aren’t looking too bright for my “sister” who is only 37, overweight, high blood pressure, high triglycerides, etc. Too many heart disease risk factors. As her sister (we say that b/c I’m an only child and she has 1 brother she’s not that close to), I want to get her on track but she has other eating disorder issues and some addition issues to. As a personal trainer, I want to write her a program and motivate her to stick to it. I think once her mom comes home and is well on the road to recovery, it will be time. My gift to her. Should I check with her therapist 1st? Ugh (again).
I got in a lower body w/o at the gym. Darn barbell squats. It’s Saturday and I still can’t go down the stairs without cringing! OUCH!!! I know I over did it. I finally did 30 minutes on my elliptical today – very slow and even pace b/c of the quads screaming.
Gotta get a new word in:
