Lunch Quandry!!
As an auditor, I do a lot of traveling and with that, must attend lunch meetings quite often. Most times, the food that is made available, while most definitely tasty, is horrendous when it comes to nutritional value. I offer up as an example, the catered Italian fare provided for an all department meeting I attended today: Tube Pasta with Heavy Butter Sauce, Sausage and Peppers, Garlic Bread and Anti-Pasta Salad in (more than likely), full fat Italian dressing.
HHHhhmmm: not much for the dieting bodybuilder who is now seeing some nice vascularity and cuts. What a conundrum, yes?
Because I am not so sure of the right action here, I ask this tough question: Would it have been better to eat nothing, eat small portions of one or all of the items…..What should I have done?

Nothing from the above menu….grab the dessert and run….call it a "treat" for you hard work and "work it off tomorrow!".
Now, the big question is, "What did you do?"

I often am in the same situation. When faced with a situation like this the truth is you gotta eat something. You’re a big guy and you have to feed that body a min cal. count at every meal right? I would have eaten the pasta but very slyly scraped off as much sause as possible. I would have eaten some of the sausage and peppers, not a lot. No garlic bread and some salad again trying to get as much dressing off of it as possible. Make up for it on my next meal with very lean high protean. OR… WTH, maybe just go the bandit route… you gotta eat something!

Eating nothing is the worst thing you can do!! Eat a small portion of what they had. Overeating is usually the killer in a diet and not eating small portions. The body needs nutrients and with hard training and cardio you need food even while dieting. Besides if you eat a small portion 1 you can make it up later in healthy food and 2 it will stave off hunger causing you to really cheat.

Bring bars with you then you never have to worry! My favorite are the VPX Zero Impact bars in chocolate peanut butter…MDLWT(a/k/a John) got me hooked on those…damn they are DELICIOUS!
