Its all going downhill now, The crapiest Scottish summer ever, rain, rain and rain, probably about 50 days of non-stop rain. I have to add I’m a fair weather cyclist and not been out on the bike for weeks, and it shows, the body fat went up for the first time in months, I do other cardio to prevent this, but i was having great results while cycling, now were getting into dark mornings and darker nights, I guess the bikes only coming out at weekends now…..

Five weeks of cycling now, and the results are really showing, the body fat has reduced by 1.5% and the weight seems to be steady. I’ve got a 12 mile course now which is mainly farm tracks and back roads, a decent mixture of hills to go up and down, it takes about 1 hour 10 mins, a top speed of 29.9mph (going down hill wheeeeeee) with an average speed of 10.4mph,
Pit falls ive discovered,
keep your mouth shut especially going past trees as this reduces your fly intake,
don’t eat smoked bacon before a ride as this turns your mouth to sand paper,
be weary of wind direction, especially when farmers are out slurrying their fields
beware of farm dogs as they have a passion to bite bike tyres and
don’t wear white t-shirts as this attracts all sorts of wee black beasties.

Mission 1: increase the cardio, lose the bodyfat, see the abs…..
In total last week i covered 40miles, the good news, the backside is getting used to the saddle, although it is still a bit tender. there is definately some definition on the calves and i can see some loose skin around the mid rift area. The weight hasn’t decreased and the body fat has reduced, on the down side the top of the legs are still aching, thats one full week of pain now, and no signs of letting up, so to celebrate i’ve increased the distance to 9 miles today.

Its been about 4 months now, and the bodyfat does not seem to be disappearing, so on some advice, i have decided to increase the cardio training, living in the countryside where there is loads of quiet back roads with little or no traffic and plenty of hills, i’ve purchased a mountain bike and decided to go cycling. This was the first week and ive got a decent circuit that covers about 6 miles which takes about 40 minutes to complete, the first 4 miles are mainly up hill and it hurts, but as you reach the top there is one massive hill to go down, it’s absolutely exhilarating and worth the climb,The only down side is the sore a.s.s. from the saddle.

I was on the forum the other night and was recommended an improvement to my diet, so after a days shopping i’ve stalked up on eggs and cottage cheese, I’m not to keen on eating tins of tuna so i’m replacing this with chicken breasts and prawns, theres alot of eating to be done so who knows how its going to work, I’m also increasing the time i spend doing cardio exercise and hopefully i’m going to start to do a quick routine in the morning, the reason for all this, to reduce my body fat, I can’t wait for my first progress picture. Does anybody know what to do with egg yolks apart from making rich chocolate cake?

things are going great, i have been increasing the weight training up to about 30 minutes a workout now and finding it getting alot easier so today ive had to go out and purchase 20kg of weights for my dumb-bells, for my next workout i’ll start by increasing them by 2.5kgs to 12.5kgs each dumb-bell.
