Things I believe

Those who know me well know that I have had a bit of a roller coaster ride the past week or so.  And I have been doing a lot of thinking. About my life, about the site, about my lifting and such… some good, some bad, but these are things that I o believe is true… some of you will undoubtedly argue some of the points, in particular the bad things, but I welcome a debate proving it one way or the other.

1.) I believe that my strength is going to continue to increase fairly quickly. By the time the bash rolls around, I can see me doing a 200 bench, 600 leg press, and 350 deadlift. And I think those are very realistic.  At the beginning of the year I never would have believed that…and then by the end of the year I am shooting for a 250 bench, 700 leg press and 400 deadlift.

2.) I believe that without my true friends on here, I would not have gotten to this point in my life.  I would have fallen back to the old Brian, lazy, depressed, uncaring if I lived or died.  Thank you to those who care enough to check up on me and call me friend.

However,

3.) I do believe that aesthetically, I am not a good looking man. I know some of you will say wait you will when you lose some of that weight.  I don’t believe that.  Even when I was thin I was not handsome in the least. And I believe that no matter how my body reacts to this weight training, I think that I will never be a handsome man. Whether that is an imprint of my many years of putdowns by others or not I don’t know.  But I have been doing a lot of careful looking at other people, and in my view, I would say I am in the bottom 15% when it comes to beauty. And that includes both men and women.

4.) I believe that the above three things to be true in my eyes, however skewed they might be in the positive or negative.

Like I said, if you want to debate that I can’t lift those weights, or the other way if you think I am not as ghastly as I make myself to be, I welcome the challenge.

I wish everyone a great day!

Well, a man is as he thinketh … if you’re telling yourself those negative things then they become your truth. But you have the power to naysay the negativity from your past, Brian. It’s not easy at first, but your mental muscles need to get stronger just like your physical muscles. You will have to exercise them and they’ll kick and scream, and you will tend to slide downward, but sooner or later your new, more positive outlook on yourself will win out :)

I know this, because I have had many of the same challenges that you have faced. And I am overcoming! :D

LOL, look a Jack Nicholson. He surely never looked like say, Brad Pitt, but he’s been with many of the most beautiful ladies in Hollywood, and he’s still a sex symbol at his advanced age. It boils down the confidence, baby :)

You may wish to sit down with your wife and discuss with her your reasons for going to the gym .She may not feel as threatened if she understands it more.

okay — a few things I believe to be true
    1) if you lift weights and watch your diet you will reshape your body (replacing fat with lean muscle mass)
    2) Friends - true friends - will be there for you. they will speak the truth to you in love and be there to help you to make the changes in your life that will benefit you and those around you. they are not there to tell you what you want to hear…not at all.
    3) Regardless of how beautiful a person is, if they do not feel as though they are - they will never be. Many of us struggle with the same thoughts (i have too- and all the time people tell me that I am lovely, but i rarely feel it). However, changing your body as you WILL do, will build your confidence in a way that you have never experienced - and maybe, just maybe you will be able to embrace the beauty that others see in you.
    4) I believe the above things to be true…
    all my best to you….

Okay…I have been thinking about this more and as you know I love God and I think I would be remiss not sharing this:
    Psalm 139:13-15
for you creatied m inmost being;you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you because I am fearfullly and wonderfully made; you works are wonderful, I know that full well.

so, bottom line - God made you wonderful just the way you are….and I, among other definately see that…
    :)

Yes Brian, you will hit the weights you desire. I know you can. I have experienced heavy weights and I know anything is possible.
We are all individual. This is how it was intended to be.
We exude the beauty that we feel. So it is up to you Brian to start thinking beautiful thoughts. That will be your foundation. And SMILE, for that is always very attractive. Walk with your chin up knowing that you are a special creation, a unique one at that.
    :)

I totally believe you will meet those lifting goals, and I look forward to seeing you at the bash!

    Just a point of note……..
The male celebs I’ve had life long crushes on….
David Letterman, Kevin Spacey and Kevin Smith……..
    Not exactly a GQ crowd

You are a beautiful person on the inside, and that shows and will show more and more the more you feel it. Everyone that has already said something has spoken so much truth.
I also believe that a wonderful person will have an aura of attractiveness, regardless of how "unattractive" they may be, and just the same, a big jerk will reek an aura of unattractiveness even if they are underwear models. Brian, you have no problem letting others know of their positive traits, please believe us when we send you the same. You are a wonderful person, you are meeting your goals, you have a huge support group here. I know people were crappy to you before, but try your hardest not to listen to them now. We know best now, =)
