Has anyone heard of the 5×5x5 workout? I had to abandon my goal of doing crossfit for the duration of deployment, and know going to give the 5×5x5 workout a try. If anyone has tried it, I’d like to hear the results. If you don’t know what it is, ask, and I’ll fill you in.

Training is about perspective and how you approach things. If you see it as monotony, you’re just making things harder for yourself. But if you see it as a stepping stone to something nobler, then it becomes easier.
Think about it in terms of consistency. Sticking to it. That combined with desire and heart, and always pushing yourself. It’s all about finding what works for you, then applying it with consistency and diligence. Throw in heart, real passion, and you got the makings of achampion.

Listen folks, this is how things work. If you want something done, you gotta set a goal. Write it down, put it in a place you can’t hide from. Every day, look at it and ask yourself, am I farther along than I was yesterday? Am I moving forward?

Sessions of absolute torture? Brothers and sisters, they are an irreplaceable rung in the ladder. Here are some things that have helped me in pursuit of my goals and helped me stay in line when I wanted to slip into madness. This is what you must do before you can use all these fancy ass routines you read about every month. This is exactly how I got through those days, nights, weekends, holidays, injuries, and beautiful glorious agony. Stay focused and don’t quit before it all unfolds.
1. Believe in one person: Yourself. Everything flows from that pool.
2. Don’t be afraid of pain. It will teach you.
3. Define your surroundings; don’t let them define you.
4. Don’t be a ****ing pussy. Life hurts. So does loneliness, and so does change. But they are all necessary to your growth.
5. Don’t add extra fat to your diet for calories.
6. Make things happen. Don’t wait for them.
7. Lift for gains, not glory. Control your ego and the weight.
8. Don’t count protein grams from nuts or grains.
9. Quitting is a habit, as is winning and losing. The second two happen to everyone. The first one should never happen to anyone.
10. Lead by example. Never become someone you aren’t proud of.

If you’re serious about training, then you have to understand that time is an investment. Training, eating, and dieting requires a lot of time. If you’re like me and you can’t stand wasting time, then you’ll do whatever it takes to protect your investment. Now, how do you get your investment to grow? You’ve got to drill this into your head: Every single thing counts when you’re trying to achieve something special, something only a few people can ever hope to achieve.
Before you think about getting into it, ask yourself this: "Am I committed? Will I do what it takes to protect my investment?" If you’re not in 100%, get the **** out now. There ain’t no room for half-stepping.
Training is war. Once you start, you can’t back out and say you’re sorry. When you enter a war, you plan for invasion. Every piece of the puzzle has a place. You have to assume tactical command and take responsibility for your theater of operations. The competitive life you save may be your own.
There is no accident. No shortcut. No easy way out. There’s only one thing you can’t bottle or stick in your ass. It’s a work ethic. Blood, guts and hard work are my main tools. Rage and anger is what fuels my intensity. Muhammad Ali once said there is no shame in going down. The only shame is if you don’t get back up.

It’s been a few months since I’ve been on the site, but I’ve been very consitent with keeping with the crossfit program. There have been many days I’ve wanted to switch back to conventional lifting; I’m glad I didn’t. I’m loving the intensity of the workouts. I really love the fact that I’m in and out of the gym in a matter of 30 minutes or less, since my work schedule really doesn’t allow for much more time than that. I recommend crossfit to anyone wanting something out of the ordinary, need a change of pace, or just wants an exceptional program to get fit.

I’ve been doing Crossfit for some time now, but this is the first time that I’ve been able to do it consitantly and I’m loving every single workout. My goal, while I’m deployed is to follow the Crossfit Workout of the day everyday I’m here. I have no excuse to miss a workout. The gym is open 24 hours a day. I wish my gym was like that back at my home station.
