Building the Lean type of muscle…

October 25, 2009

So I’ve been working on a High Protien/ moderate Carb/ low fat diet. I’m still trying to get plenty of calories, so I’m eating a lot. Since I work swing shift at the lumber mill, its been hard to get into the gym more than 2 times a week. But, with my diet and gym stipulations I’ve still been able to manage putting on some size. Not much, but progress non-the-less. I wanna gain wieght but I want to try and stay as cut as possible wile doing it. I know its possible. I’m not going to go on a big bulk and gain a ton of fat then work my ass off to cut only to gaing 5 lbs.

You know? When I started lifting, much the same as anyone else, I was very impatient. Frustration became a very common, almost too common, of an emotion. It’s taken me ten months to finally except the fact that this takes time, And it feels good.

About 5 months in and need to step it up!

July 28, 2009

We’ll I’ve been at it now for little more than five months and the progress has seemed to stall. I’m still following a good diet, working intensly, and doing cardio 3 times a week. I have been dropping some BF but can’t really notice in my progress pics. My arms and chest have been increasing in size slowly but surely. I’m going to be taking another Controlled Labs Blue Up cycle starting next week along with my Controlled Labs White Flood and Scivation Xtend. Going to try to turn it up a few notches and see some results.

If anyone reads this can you give me some tips on toning up my mid section. IE; Obliques, lower abs? I do these exercises already, Side Crunches, hanging leg raises, laying leg ups, and butt raises as well as cable crunches. Should I just do more cardio intervals?

Topping on the motivational cake!

July 6, 2009

I usually dont mess around when I’m in the gym when I go in there. I put the headphones in and start working hard with an occasional break to talk for a couple seconds with the regulars that have been coming since I started there.

Since I’ve been working out, my motivation has really been the change I see when I look in the mirror and when comparing my first photo to my most recent, But what happened today puts the topping on the motivational cake. Within an hour of being in the gym I got 3 compliments about the change I’ve made since I’ve started. One individual even asked me for nutritional advice. I swear when I got the first compliment, "Hey, you look good. How long you been working out", My intensity stepped up another 50%. I mean, you always gotta do your best and put the most effort into anything you really want in order to get it, but when someone notices the changes it sure in the hell beats taking pictures of yourself and comparing them.

I’ve never been the person to have patience. In Fact I’m completely the opposite. But when it comes to weight training and sticking too it, I’d say the patience is sure paying off thus far.

First Bulk, gonna add 8 lbs of muscle

July 1, 2009

Here for awhile I felt like I was hitting a plateau and was getting very frustrated. My strength gains were going up, but I wasn’t gaining any mass or size to anything. It just kinda seemed to stop! I took a step back a couple of weeks ago to figure out the problem and to see what I could do to add more mass. I kept track of my caloric intake and my intake portions of protien, carbs, and fats for a couple days to really make sure I was getting enough in my body throughout the day. The two day avererage was about 2800 calories at about a 50/30/20. When I started working out I was about 19.5% BF and 207 lbs. I wasn’t healthy and I was eating about 4-5,000 calories a day involving bad foods like Fast Food, Pot Roast, tons of pasta’s, and others containing lots of bad fats. So the first thing I did was cut my calories in half and eat healthy. I now weigh 189.5 lbs at 9.5-10% body fat and now its time to add some muscle.

Since researching online and looking at some magazines, I found my Carb load was a bit low for building the mass I wanted. I decided to try and adjust my coloric intake to 4,000 at 40/40/20 and so far so good, but its really been tough trying to pack in the extra food. I eat real clean, but have alway had a high protein diet so trying to add more carbs has been a little tougher than I thought.

Within two weeks of changing my diet I have added 3/8" inch to both my arms, and 1.5 lbs to my weight while maintaining my BF% at 10%. I haven’t measured any other body part yet but can visually see my chest is a little bigger. I have been keeping my workout intensity the same (dripping with sweat before I even get to my cardio session) and have cut my cardio from 6 days a week to 3. I’m going to do this for a couple of months then go back to a high protein diet.

Me + Alcohol = Going to do something stupid.

May 26, 2009

Memorial Day Weekend is the ONE weekend a year that I get smashed, and its not just one day, its all three. Its when all the guys in my family go to the other side of the state and do some camping along with a ton of drinking. The weekend for us started friday morning, where a few of us started drinking at 6 am, we ended up passing out early this night. Saterday we waited till about ten o’clock in the morning, or until we had at least eaten breakfast. By night time we were well drunk and walking into other campsites carrying an ice-chest offering everyone Jauger-Bombs. So Saterday Night was a good night. On Sunday, we started a little early again and by noon the bets began. We started daring people to so stuff for money which never turns out to be a good thing in the end.

You ever see that movie "Beavis and Butthead Do America"? Well, in some small sense that was me on Sunday night. We were driving around the campsites playing stupid games and yelling at people when we realized that we were suddenly running low on the busch light. I asked a couple people if they had a few beers we could have to hold us over until we got back to camp. They said yes, and before the truck could stop, THATS RIGHT!, my stupid ass decided to get out of the truck and start walking over there. So to say the least, I’m in a little bit of pain right now. That little move resulted in me having whip-lash, split open the back of my head, and cuts and scrapes from head to toe. I think I’m gonna skip the drinking next year completely.

gotta remind myself nothing happens overnight

May 4, 2009

I feel like I’m on the right path towards my goals. I weighed 201lbs when I started 3 months ago and I’ve dropped to 191 as of today. Whats really ironic is that although I’m losing weight, I’m still gaining size (measurments) in my arms, chest, and legs.

My abs are coming through a ton since I’ve started, but somethimes it seems like they are shrinking or just not showing through as much as I think they should be. Some days they look bigger and somedays its like " where the hell did they go". I think my abs are the most frustrating body part for me thus far. I’ve been using a good ab curcuit every other day and it has been working, I’ve just been impatient.

The one thing I have to keep reminding myself is that 3 months of working out will NOT make up for 5 years of laziness. I will keep pushing forward untill I’ve reached my goal.

Drank Some Beers This Weekend.

April 20, 2009

So I figured its been awhile since I’ve drank beer and decided to have a few at a BB-Q. First one tasted like heaven, second won tasted ok, third one tasted like shit. I stoped at three on saterday and three on sunday. I worked extra hard in the gym today in hopes it will make up for what I drank.

Anyway.. thought I’d share

Working on abs hard, beginning to piss me off

April 1, 2009

Today I’ve hit a bit of frustration after hitting the gym. I work on my abs and obliques just as hard if not harder than my other body parts and have been for a couple of months now. I do cardio 15-20 minutes everyday and eat an awsome diet. BUT, I am not seeing much results, or at least the results i want to see. I’ve been doing an ab curcuit at the end of my weight training every day. Sometimes I mix it up and I add change weight etc.. to keep from plateauing.

Now it looks like my abs are getting bigger which is great, but It doesnt seem that I have been able to burn the fat covering them. Its crazy cause i seriously work my abs so hard and intensly along with my cardio but cant seem to get this fat off. WTF!!!!!!!!

my curcuit contains 5 intense workouts. I do each workout till failure. And I do it twice.

All my other body parts are showing great results in muscle gain and fat loss, ie: Arms, Chest, Legs, Back, But My abs still have too much fat. Although When I flex you can clearly see my six pac. But relaxed its like half a keg lol..

I’ll keep working at it though.

Starting My First Test Booster Cycle. Any Input?

March 24, 2009

I’ve been really searching for a decent somewhat inexpensive natural testosterone booster supplement and came accross Controlled Labs Blue Up. I haven’t seen a lot of input on this in the forums, but I decided the price was right and about 90% of the reviews I read about this stuff was good So what the heck, lets give’r a shot.

Tomarrow will be my first day using it. I’m not sure how long a "Cycle" is for this stuff, but I have a 30 day supply. So I’ll take if for the 30 days and see if there is any changes. I’m suppose to take 2 capsels 30-40 minutes before workout so, I suspect this stuff gets into the system rather quickly.

I’m not sure if anyone reads my blog posts, but if there are readers, especially readers that have dabbled in test boosting supplements, can you give me some input on this one? Especially, Do I have to do a "post-test" cycle when I’m done with my Blue Up?
