New workouts = fantastic soreness

Just a quick one today…

It was time to add some new exercises/routines to my bag of tricks.  Shock the system, so to speak.  That’s one of the reasons I love this site.  I can get home, log in and pull up a workout someone else has done and either use it as is or modify it and get going.

I tried the Scivation 666 workout for biceps and triceps the other nite.  6 sets, 6 reps, in 6 minutes.  Doesn’t sound too tough, but it got me pretty good.  I figured out that I should pay more attention to my rest periods as currently I just kind of do it in my head.  I added some isolation stuff after and was sore as hell the next day, so that’s going to be used again.

My back and neck have been bothering me some, not enough to keep me from going, but it is slightly uncomfortable when I am lying down.  So my deads have been kept lighter on purpose, but have combined the DL and shrugs which is working my traps pretty well as I will do 5 shrugs for every DL rep, so I get about 25 per set for 5 sets.

My girlfriend was kind enough to massage my shoulders, neck, and back this weekend and wow!  what a difference.  Still not 100% but there was a definite 10-20% improvement afterward.

I’ve been changing up my cardio a lot, which I haven’t done in the past, so we’ll see how this works.  I always did the same HIIT on the treadmill and it worked great, but I’ll vary it up every day just to keep it challenging and different.  If it doesn’t work, I can always change back.  I’ve got a 16-18 lb head start over this time last year, so I’m thinking that come late spring I will be at a better place than I got to this past summer which was better than I ever thought I could previously.  So, it’s going well on all fronts except work, where nobody seems to have any money to pay us, so it’s going to be a loooong winter, but if you guys go out and buy houses and cars and some crap you really don’t need, we can get the ball rolling again.
