Well, I found a new fun thing to do with arms last night. I’m currently on my favorite cycle for arms, this superset workout really kicks my ass. So I’m about done with my workout and I realize that I forgot to do my warmup sets of chinups. One set bodyweight for 10-12 reps, then weighted for 6-8 reps next two sets. So, I had to do them at the end. What a difference! I was pulling for all I was worth and was barely getting to the top. My arms felt so weak! It was AWESOME! I could barely do bodyweight reps, so I only did weighted at the end for a 4th set. Couldn’t even get one! So I did weighted negatives nice and slow. What a burn! Thought I was gonna die.
I was already going to move dips to the end of chest nite and do weighted negatives, but I think I’m going to do the same with pullups on back day. I usually do these first as warmups, but they are real ass kickers at the end.
I’ve got this thing i"m doing now to warm up… 50 jumping jacks. Then after a set I do 25-30 more. So I finally figured out how many I was doing through my workout last night and it was 400. Yeah, not all at once, but it adds a degree of difficulty.
I’m hitting back tonight, chest Saturday, and Legs on Sunday! Should be good ones.

Tonight is arm day (err, nite). Really excited to get to use my new (used) preacher curl bench. Different angles and whatnot to hit the muscles. Took Wed. nite off, due to my son’s baseball game and the fact that I will not have a better opportunity for an off day until Wed. next week.
Contemplating progress pics this weekend, but my tan goes from my hands to sleeve cuff, so I’ve got a two-tone custom tan right now (Ye Olde Office Tan). I’d hate to post pics and send everyone into a tizzy trying to figure out how to keep their upper arms and torso so deliciously pasty white, all the while having bronzed forearms. It will alleviate itself once I start going to the lake this summer. Can’t wait to find out what the marina is charging for gas these days (it has always been $2 higher than at land based gas stations).
Dang! I forgot to pickup a bikini babe for the boat. Oh well, I guess I might still have time to find one. Either that or I’ll just get a jet ski and ride all by my lonesome .
Either way sounds good to me!

Well, come Friday I’ll measure BF again. Weight has stayed the same, last time lost some fat, but the weight is glued tight at 187. That’s good. I’ve gone from afternoon snack to afternoon meal, so my calories have increased. Plus in the last month I added two tsp of natural pb before bed. A lot of calories, but it is a treat!
If the BF hasn’t changed, then I’m going back to midday snack. This last layer of fat is tough. My workout intensity has gone through the roof since I hit my goal of 10%BF, it’s been an inspiration. I’m getting close to abs, but frustrated from lack of progress. I was hoping by Memorial Day, but I don’t think that’s going to happen now. So, I’ll see what the calipers say and adjust from there. I hope I lost a little fat because I’d really hate to wake up at 4AM to do fasted cardio.

Well, we won’t discuss today’s lunch, suffice to say it was not on the meal plan, but I did limit it to just a sandwich, so this weeks cheat is already in the books. That’s okay, I wasn’t going to allow myself one, but hey, gotta live sometime. Besides, my diet is pretty well dialed in, and I’m killing the workouts, so I’ll burn it off soon enough. I had a buffalo chicken sandwich from the restaurant my co-worker chose, which was Hooters, not much healthy there, most waitresses excepted. It was nice to have a pretty girl flirt with me, even if it is her job.
What I want to discuss today is what I’m loving. My new situp chair and medicine ball are the bomb! Used together, these seemingly harmless pieces of equiment have made me sore as hell! I worked the old abba dabbas pretty hard with aforementioned equipment last night and was not sore upon waking . I was pretty disappointed. But fear not dear reader, my co-worker and I were running around to some of our jobs and decided to listen to famous comedian Ron "Tater Salad" White on the way back to the office. Despite having heard the bits numerous times, I couldn’t help but laugh. Upon first laughage, my abs erupted in glorious soreness! Mission Accomplished!
Legs were tonite (Monday) and I was not lifting as much as I did last week. I couldn’t figure it out, maybe since my core was sore it was weaker. So, I decided since I wasn’t able to lift quite as much, I’d punish myself with reps. That’ll show me! Not the best workout ever, but quite a beast I must admit.
Having finished perusing the lates M&F, it says I should consider sparking some growth by training some parts twice a week. I don’t recover quite as fast as I used to, but I do know my legs are mere twigs compared to the mighty oaks I once had back in the good old days, and my shoulders need work. Worst part is my biceps which were ignored in my youth since they weren’t necessary for football. These parts will be worked twice starting next week, once I figure out how to arrange my split to allow for appropriate recovery. I figure if I am not recovering quickly enough, I can always go back. I’m not going to start with two full workouts for those parts, but pick one exercise and add it to the end of another body part with 3 sets and change that exercise up frequently. I’ll keep you posted.

I have a plan in my head in regards to my home gym. I know what equipment will fit, where upgrades will happen and when, etc. I went by Play It Again Sports to see if they had anything new. Wound up buying more than I had planned. Picked up a situp chair which I can also use for back extensions, a medicine ball for use with said chair, and a preacher curl bench. I’ve been using my adjustable bench on an incline for preacher curls, but it’s rather uncomfortable, and it was only $40.
Well, stuff had to be moved to accomodate the new goodies, so that was good in that I finally had some motivation to clean up down there. Next purchase is going to be some more 45# plates. I haven’t seen them, but I know they used to make 100 lb plates. Gotta get me some of those too.
Hit back on Sunday. Legs tonight. Thinking about training some parts 2x per week to stimulate some more growth, currently doing one body part a day. Guess I’ll try it and see how my old ass body responds.

Ok, Friday was date night. If the waitress had been faster, she would have been tipped huge. Unfortunately, she was normal speed. I couldn’t wait to get out of there. I hate when people aren’t who they represent themselves to be. Maybe I’m just too picky, but why settle?
so to make a long story short, ate some bread, had some fast carb restaurant food, bloated today and wishing I hadn’t, but it’ll pass. Figured since I was out I’d stop by the local sports bar and watch the end of the Braves game. I was figuring on one scotch and water then home to bed. Well, you know how that story goes….
Wound up shooting pool with two Brits and I did not stop at one, thankfully I knew when to quit, so today I’ll be sweating like a pig during my workout, but at least I’ll be able to workout. So, the whole evening wasn’t a total loss, though I think I’d have rather stayed in and worked out. Oh well. Decided that since my luck with finding a quality person to date is poor that I’m just going to stop dating for a while. So, much like Chaz Micheal Micheals, I’m the lone wolf who rides alone. It may be a long trip alone, but hey at least I’ll enjoy the company!

Worked arms tonight, felt as though I was on fire in my triceps, not so much in my biceps, but did move some heavier weight and hit failure, so that is good. Form was near perfect and focus was right on as well. Here’s hoping I wake up Friday with some major soreness!
Wednesday was an off day and Friday will be as well (probably). Seems as though I somehow wound up with a date, so my usual workout time has been interrupted. And before all the smart ass comments come, yes my having a date does indeed prove that the sun does shine on a dog’s ass somedays. We are going to an italian restaurant, so I’ll need to be careful with my ordering. Sure it’s a cheat meal, but I planned for it so it’s all good. Other than that, hitting the back on Saturday and legs on Sunday, so the weekend promises some muscle growth and pain. I may just be the luckiest man on the planet!

Tuesday was a great manboob workout. I decided that since my legs were still sore from Sunday’s leg workout (today is Wed. and a little stiff, but not sore) that higher rep sets would give me a boost. So to change it all up I was doing lighter weights for massive rep counts. It worked! I am hurting again today, except in my chest. I love being this sore! Seems like I can work heavy and until failure, but can’t seem to get very sore sometimes. And just to prove that I’m a little twisted that way, I’ve been flexing my pecs all day just so I could feel it!

Ok, I didn’t hurt myself yet today, but I love that line. It’s the opening line from the song "Hurt" by Johnny Cash. I actually hurt myself Sunday on leg day. No, dear reader, not a bad hurt, but a real good one. I apparently hit my legs so hard that not only did it make cardio difficult last nite, but I think I’m even more sore today! Lovin’ it!
Hit shoulders last night with as heavy weight as I dare and focus. Trying to grow my delts to get a wider look up top. That’s kind of funny for a fatty fat fatso to say (or I guess I can officially say former fatty fat fatso). I’m still focused on getting leaned out enough for abs, kind of got a glimpse of something that just might be abs peeking out yesterday, but I now can see where I need to grow to look right. Or well at least correctly proportioned in my mind’s eye. Of course then there will be something else to modify.

Well, since I am the Token Gringo here at my company, or so it seems most of the time, I will silently protest Cinco de Mayo by working out instead of drinking. Only 8 AM and already been invited to 2 celebrations, neither of which sounds like much fun to me. Besides, hitting my goal of 10% BF yesterday adds to my resolve.
After measuring the BF yesterday, I hit my legs for a great session. Leg days means no cardio for me due to having pulled a quad in college by sprint training on leg day, yeah I’m gun shy. Anyway, decided to add a set of squats at the end for 25 reps. This is a test of will and focus. Needless to say, when I finished I fell to the ground sweating like I’d just finished a good bout of HIT. WOW! Then hit the leg curls and extensions, etc. There is about 6 steps that I have to go up to get out of my gym/dungeon. Had to use my arms to help get up the steps! LOL.
Ok, more good news… I have added 1.8 lbs. of muscle in the last 3 weeks. I have been tweaking my diet, playing with carbs and protein and fat. Upped the carbs and added a chicken breast during the day and it is working. Still focused on getting leaned out enough to have abs, but when I decide to grow some it will be handy to know that my old body can still respond well.
Shoulders tonight, should be a killer!
