It’s amazing to see how exercise has completely transformed me, mentally and physically. I don’t ever remember being cranky much, but I hadn’t lifted in 5 days and by the time last night was here I had had enough. That’s basically the only time I have for myself and I would have lifted on Tuesday if not for my parents and my brother. My brother has expressed interest in working out with me, and did so at least once a week for quite a while. But now he’ll tell me he wants to get back into it, and then doesn’t answer his phone when I call to comfirm it. Hasn’t even bothered to give me an excuse. F**k him. My parents have to see my little ones once a week, or they just can’t stand it. So I was there until 9:00 pm. I don’t mind visiting, but it wouldn’t be so bad if the kids weren’t up before 6:00 most of the time. Since I started working out at night, I get nothing but distractions from that schedule and I end up being up much later than I want to be. Maybe I complain too much, but getting pulled in five different directions sucks. Clean the house, fix the car, take the kids here, shop for groceries. Sometimes being the stay-at-home sucks. Guys aren’t made for it, I thought I could be but I’m not. However, there is light at the end of the tunnel, in three years they’ll all be in school. Freedom!

Maybe it’s because I’m learning more about nutrition and exercise that I’m paying more attention to this, but my stepdaughter is in disgusting shape right now. I just happened to see a picture of her 2 1/2 years ago, and she has just ballooned. Don’t know why I never noticed before. I’m not a real big guy, but at 6′2" and 205 I’m not exactly small either. She might have about 50 pounds on me. She’s almost as tall as I am, so that helps a bit, but not much. At 17, I know the whole focus of your life is your friends and the opposite sex, but in today’s society sadly enough guys will not go for her because of the way she looks. I want to just ream her out for getting to this point, but her mother has done it before to no avail. She’s not blessed with genetics to be a small girl because she has a large frame, but damn! Her eating habits are horrible; her girlie get-togethers usually include everyone baking a pan of something sweet, and she never comes home with leftovers. If there is dessert, which we don’t serve unless it’s a holiday for the most part, she purposely doesn’t eat much regular food so she can have room for it. The biggest laugher is that she "works out." By this I mean going to the school gym with her friends to lift for track (She throws shot and discus). I’ve seen what they do, it’s a ****ing joke. I know she’s not old enough to get it, but she’s gonna be awful lonely until she figures it out for herself. I’ve even offered to spot her here at home (I got everything she could ever need for weights), but nothing. There, I’ve ranted, I feel better.

I love the whole e-mail reminder to update my blog. Admin says I have had new visitors, what a load of crap. I don’t really mind that I don’t have comments, I barely touch this thing anyway. Definitely more interested in the journal than the blog. My life is pretty routine and I’m not an uptight guy, so I don’t really have anything to rant about right now. Rest assured, I’ll be back when I get tweaked about something!

I’m bored. Just sitting here, should have worked out but didn’t (will do it later tonight). I have to go get the kids now. The house still hasn’t fully recovered from the weekend when my wife was home doing absolutely nothing in terms of housekeeping. Just because I’m the one at home during the week doesn’t mean that’s the only time the house needs to be clean. That’s all, my blog post for the day. Exciting stuff.

I do most of my BB talk on my journal, so I think I’ll just treat this as a once-in-a-while rant. Seeing as how I have something to rant about, here we go….
Why is it teenagers are so stupid? I’ve heard of the "not fully developed brains" theory, but I don’t buy it. I’ve seen plenty of kids not get into trouble in high school and have no regrets about it once they’re out. But, they know the cons of doing something wrong even when they more than outweigh the pros and they decide to do it anyway. My stepdaughter is 17, has never had a real serious boyfriend and earlier this past school year wrote a speech about purity, which I was quite impressed with coming from someone that age. However, a boy she has had a crush on since forever has recently been hanging out with her. This guy has a girlfriend (a friend of hers by the way) and is fairly serious about her from what my stepdaughter tells me. However, she has told him she will not have sex until she is married. Consequently, this guy has been lurking around my house and last week apparently made his first move WHILE I WAS THERE! Monday night I think he was hoping to get lucky, because the lights were all dim downstairs and they had a blanket on them. Like I didn’t go to high school and was clueless about what was going on. Instead of breaking it up (which I really wanted to do), my wife and I just made very frequent trips down there. I had to workout that night anyway; sorry dude, no luck that night. He just wants to get laid and my stepdaughter knows that but doesn’t seem to care, almost as if this scumbag is a trophy that every girl must have (QB on the football team). And I thought guys were the pigs. I realize there is a big self-esteem issue here with her, she isn’t exactly what most guys her age are looking for (I’m 6′2" and around 205, and she ain’t far behind in either respect). I’m at a loss for the moment, because she wants to f@#k him; I just want to f@#k him up. Right now, let it just be said that he won’t ever be here again without feeling extremely uncomfortable (and that’s putting it mildly).

Liked the P/RR/S idea, just not all the waiting around and resting between sets. I’m an active guy, I’m on my feet all weekend at work and my workouts are fairly fast. I average about 90 min per session w/ two or three body parts. Probably why I can’t seem to eat enough. Wish I had the money and time to fine tune the diet and get supplements that work. I want to try the BSN Mass Stack; hell if Ronnie endorses it, why not?! NO-Xplode won awards, I’d like to see what a little more intensity would bring me. I’ll use up the rest of my bargain basement creatine, by then I should have saved enough for the stack.

Yet again, I’ve changed things up. Got a good tip on something I’d never heard of before. P/RR/S has enough variety to keep me from getting bored and at least I can say I’m on a program rather than hacking away with what little bit I do know. Sounds like a challenge and a lot of fun at the same time. Bring on the pain!

So, I think I’ve decided what I want to do. Not sure if this a good idea or not, but I came up with a combo of things I’ve read on this site and made a workout. It’s a push/pull split, using 5X5 on the mass building lifts and one variant lift for that muscle group. I guess I’ll call it the Frankenstein program, because I took ideas from everywhere to make one "monster" of a program (ha ha). So last night I put it to work, well some of it, and the results and program are on my journal (see bigDADDY205’s journal). I got tired of not seeing a whole lot of improvement, so I thought I would focus on strength and frequency. Now if I can just muster enough to workout on Monday night!

So, my computer was acting up for the last couple of weeks, hence the interruption in posts. I did take a full week off from lifting, by the seventh day I was chomping at the bit to do something! Guess the bug bit me big time. Anyway, the week is just starting for me, so nothing to report as far as feats of strength. I am trying to hit legs twice a week, so I am condensing upper body into two days, and doing squats and related work Tuesdays and deadlifts and related work on Fridays. Hopefully, this will help in terms of catching up with my upper body. That’s all for now!

Wow, way behind on the blog posts. Started doing the workout journal, but that proves to be difficult because the computer isn’t available to use during the day and I always forget about it at night. Got a free 7 day trial at Gold’s Gym with my brother this past week. So I went for two nights, as much as I could. Really nice to use all the extra equipment, but all the extra bodies and heat didn’t make it as fun as I thought. Still, it will be nice when I can get a membership so I can diversify my workouts a bit. I can only do some things at home, a lot of things really, but not all of them safely and not some of the ones I really like. There is supposed to be a new gym opening a mile from my house this fall, so I’m excited about that. My wife already belongs to the local chain and gets a discount, so I’ll get in for cheap, too. Not a lot I can say about the lifting the past two weeks, but there have been some highlights. Got RDL’s at 325 for 6 reps, more than I’ve ever tried. Used straps, but still a lot for me. I can do 305 for 5 without them, but I want bigger legs! My forearms aren’t necessarily lacking, either. I am going to take some time off from the weights next week though. Last Friday, I tried skull crushers with the tricep bar and immediately retweaked my right tricep, feels like the tendon right near my elbow. It doesn’t hurt now, but I don’t think more work will help it. I’ve also got stiff knees and a pulled muscle in my neck. I know, what a pussy. But I read many times and heard all over that sometimes it takes that week off and you come back stronger than ever. So, nothing to report next week, unless I just can’t take it and have to do something to combat the boredom. I suppose I could do easy stuff like calves, abs so maybe. Anyway, that’s all for now.
