"My goal is to have abs like I did when I was 21, but maintain quality muscle and size. I want to have the self confidence that comes with knowing that you look good on the outside, and feel good on the inside."

April 29th

Sunday, April 29th, 2007

So this is my first blog, and I’m not sure how this will go, but basically I just want to keep track of my thoughts and feelings regarding my training and progress as it goes on.  Heather and I started running and occassionally working out at the end of last year in an effort to try and train for a marathon, but injuries, weddings, funerals, school, work, and other things kept us from really getting into it as much as we would have liked.  So since the end of January, we have really been doing better about going to the gym on a regular basis, anywhere from 4 to 7 days a week.  Also, we have started our marathon training again as of mid April.  I can see changes in my body when I look in the mirror, and I think that taking pictures every 2 weeks or so now, I will really be able to track my progress and be motivated to keep working harder.  I have been REALLY good about doing cardio every day, but have not been as diligent about finishing my workouts with the same intensity that I start them with.  I also have been slacking a little on exercises that I am not yet comfortable doing, and letting myself not do other exercises because I feel self conscious in the gym, which is just ridiculous and silly.  I haven’t figured out the right balance yet between leg training and marathon training.  I have been skipping some sets, reps, exercises, and occassionally whole leg workouts, so that I don’t tire myself out for my marathon training, and this is just not okay because I believe that in the long run, the leg workouts will be beneficial to my marathon end results.  We are trying to move to Las Vegas in the next 3 or 4 weeks, and that transition period should be a real challenge for us in regards to keeping up our work in the gym, but even more so in regards to our marathon training because of the summer heat that we will encounter in Las Vegas.  Hopefully we can continue to improve our running, and I can continue to improve my physique, which will help me with confidence, which will help me in life, i.e. job, money, etc.
