Notes:

I was a little short on time as it took me longer then usual to get me and my 5 year old, get her to school and hit the gym. Today I was very well rested which lended me a hand when I went heavier then I ever have on the smith bar squats. I would have probably done a few more things had I had the time. The past couple of weeks my training and my nutrition has been slacking due to the detox, travel and not resting enough- not to mention the L word….laziness. I am ready to get back on the ball with it and today kicked it off. I decided I need some more glute exercises because like many other women I want to tone my booty even more! I also determined today looking in the mirror while training that my legs are looking damn good these days! Especially my calves! Overall I must say these days I am looking good…the best shape I have ever been in @ 24 AFTER having a kiddo…now that is a good feeling! I have decided that although I am not in the leanest shape…my figure is nice with some body fat but being overall toned..it suits my figure. So Woohoo good job to me and its time to keep pushing!

Jay Robb’s Detox Diet

Monday, March 12th, 2007

My Jay Robb 3-Day Fruit Flush Detox Diet Experience…

So…I just finished up with the Jay Robb 3 day detox diet on Tuesday 3/13 (last day of it). What an experience…

First let me start off by saying the reason I did this detox in the first place. Giving my HUGE interest in health/nutrition/fitness I am always reading and researching some health topic- toxins are one of those topics I thoroughly researched. After much research I have come to believe that there are tons of toxins we put into our bodies and come into contact with every second of the day. Think about it for a minute; when you look at the back of a bottle of ketchup- How many of those ingredients have you ever heard of? Do you know what they consist of?  How many of those ingredients can you really even pronounce? Pretty scary…

After deciding to complete a “detox” I started researching different programs- I came across pills, bottles of juice, plain fasting, eating all vegetables- I can’t even begin to tell you the thousands of detox diets that are out there. I personally have tried out a couple of different ones in the past but was very unimpressed so this time I wanted to get it right. I wanted to “cleanse” my body and kick off a new style workout program. Through my entire research one consistent name kept coming up as a “successful detox diet”; Jay Robb. I wanted to know more so I went to his website and read up (www.jayrobb.com). I was quite impressed at how clean his protein products are and his story was quite amazing.

I spent the next week or so reading different reviews on the “Jay Robb 3-Day Fruit Flush Detox” and found nothing negative. Further impressed I decided to go for it. I paid the $5.00, downloaded the booklet, printed it and studied it for another week. I set a date to start, Sunday 3/11 and went for it.

Day 1 (Sunday 3/11): All day I was exhausted, I had a headache that would not stop (which I later discovered was from caffeine withdrawal) and needless to say I was quite irritable. I did not work out; I just stayed at home and rested most of the day. I was SO hungry at first but then it got easier throughout the day. Day 1 consists of protein shakes all day and 3-6 cups of raw salad w/ a lean protein and olive oil or an avocado on top for dinner. I think the hardest part was dealing with the bland salad…it damn near killed me (or so I thought at the time). All I wanted to do was go to bed and sleep so I wasn’t thinking about food. So- that I did.

Day 2 (Monday 3/12): A work day… I figured I was safer at work then at home with my kitchen which is another reason why I started this detox on a Sunday. I woke up well rested, awesome sleep (which usually doesn’t happen for me). I did a light ab workout and a little yoga- got ready for work and off I went. Day 2 consists of 1 serving of fruit every 2 hours and raw salad at night with a protein shake. Day 2 was easier, much easier. I think it was more less I was actually eating something. I wasn’t hungry, only had a mild headache and had a very clear mind. Although I will say I was quite ecstatic at the end of the day when I realized I was almost done (1 more day to go!).

Day 3 (Tuesday 3/13 (LAST DAY!): I won’t lie, I was so very happy this was the last day- I couldn’t wait to eat something with flavor again! Although, I wasn’t hungry and my headaches had subsided I was still looking forward to flavor. Day 3 became my day of reflection. I realized my energy levels were up, I had been getting amazing solid sleep, I now had a very clear mind, my skin was glowing and the best part- I lost 7 lbs! I looked and felt amazing.

After my detox I can honestly say yes, it works and yes, it is an incredible feeling both physically and mentally once you complete it. Yes, it requires discipline but it is worth it. Since my detox things taste different to me. I recognize how much salt is on foods, and it doesn’t taste great anymore. My taste palette has been cleansed making whole natural foods more appealing to my taste buds.  I am now making better even better choices then before in food and have the energy to branch out and switch up my workouts, I have extreme mental clarity, my skin is still glowing and I sleep awesome at night!

I recommend the Jay Robb 3-day fruit flush to anyone and everyone. Try it, what do you have to loose? You can read up on it at www.jayrobb.com .
