It's been a minutes since I've wrote a blog but I wanted to let you all know that I FINALLY competed in my first figure competition this past weekend! I placed 1ST at the 2012 Tricky Jackson Classic in Figure Class B!!! I am so excited! I was able to take my fitness to a whole new level with http://www.fitnesspoynters.com! Come on and check us out! Hello everyone! As the Arnold approaches, I thought I would update you all on what I've been up to
First and foremost I'm currently 7 weeks into a 12 week cut. I will be working with a local photographer at the end of March, and look forward to seeing how the muscle I've gained looks in some professional photos! Also, I am 95% committed to my very first competition: the Tricky Jackson Classic in October! This will give me time to gain the muscle I need to rock my debut into figure! I plan on getting evaluated by a "coach" of sorts after my upcoming shoot, and will update you all after that meeting
I am so looking forward to my 3rd Arnold Classic! There is nothing like it and if you have never been I definitely suggest making the trip! What I love most is the motivation I get after the weekend. Seeing so many amazing physiques, it only makes me want to step up my game that much more! If you are going to be there make sure you let me know, I'd love to meet as many fellow Bodyspacers as possible!
Please please please do not think I'm not adding some of you on purpose! There is a major issue going on with my quick add, my whole page freezes up every time I try to add a page of people. This freeze up lasts about 5 minutes on average so as you can imagine, it takes me a LONG time. Some other news, Stevep78 and I are officially GYM OWNERS! In Richmond, KY where we live, Poynter's Iron Pit opened Dec. 4th! After growing tired of the hassles and BS that goes on in commercial gyms, we decided to open a spot where hardcore lifters can come and throw down. It's been an amazing experience thus far and we have continued to add new member and build a name for ourselves! This was a dream of ours for a while and it's so amazing that it's come true! Always dream big people! I am living proof of what hard work and big dreams can do! I also forgot to mention above that we have a fellow bodyspace and Team Poynter member flying to KY to train a week with us and will also be traveling to the Arnold with us! G-Tasha! I get asked everyday, "How do you stay motivated?" Wel,l let me let you in on a little secret.... IT'S HARD FOR ME TOO! Some days you just don't feel like working out... you want to eat something thats bad for you because it's easier than figuring out something clean to eat. But the way I get through is I HAVE A PLAN. What I do every day is in on my computer, phone and printed out on my refrigerator. It is in my face everyday. If you want to be successful, you have to plan ahead. For the past month now I've been incorporating FST-7 training and drop sets into my daily workouts. If you haven't tried this type of training you are missing out! I love switching things up in the gym to keep the muscles guessing, while still trying to keep my heart rate up to burn that fat!
I would like to comment on that one thing we all struggle with everyday: WILLPOWER! I was watching an episode of "Losing It With Jillian" and Jillian asked a woman she was talking to what she was so afraid of?? The girl replied, "It's too hard to say no." I can sympathize with this belief, but I want everyone out there reading this who is having a hard time kicking those bad eating habits to remember that all it takes is one choice; one step. Acknowledge the problem, and start doing something about it today. I can promise that it is possible! It's possible with kids, it's possible while going to school and while working. You just have to make the effort and STICK WITH IT!
For those of you just starting out I want you to always remember that you CAN do ANYTHING you set your mind to. Don't let your tired body control what you do. You have to have physical strength as well as mental strength to accomplish your goals. Think positive, never say "I can't". MAKE TIME!!!! Don't make excuses. By making excuses, all you are doing is cheating yourself out of an opportunity to finally be happy.
Do big things this week my friends! Believe in yourself! Failure is NOT AN OPTION!!!
So I know I've been MIA for the past few months, but I'm back and just wanted to let you know what I've been up to
First and foremost, the reason I've been too busy to keep caught up on my messages and comments is because I FINALLY graduated college about 2 weeks ago! So I now have a Bachelor's Degree. The past four months or so have been extremely busy, and with school, the gym and family time I've had little time for much else! Now I've finally gotten caught up on message and I've started writing back comments but if I missed you, please please don't think it was purposefully, I love hearing from you all and feel bad about not getting back to everyone. But don't worry, I plan on keeping caught up for now on
On another note, bodyspace member Ladyfirefighter can and stayed with Steve and I for a week and man oh man did we kill it in the gym! Everyday I set a new PR. She is serious about training and it really did us good having her here.... and we miss you now that shes returned home There are a few new videos up on my page of some of the training we did, be sure to check them out and also show her some love, shes a great lady and provides amazing motivation for those of you needing some in your life
On to supplements. Some of you may have noticed all the Optimum Nutrition and ABB products I've added over the months... I still love my Cellucor, but I've found a new love with this company. They've just launched a new True Strength campaign and the message is really great. It's not about being a super star, they appreciate all of us and our stories. It doesn't matter who you are and what your goals are, you can definitely benefit from something they have to offer. The newest product I've tried is their new Wholly Oats protein bars. We have been eating them post workout and they are phenomenal. They taste great, and have whole grains. The good thing about ON/ABB products is what you see is what you get. With alot of brands you really can't be sure that what's on the label is actually what your consuming, but with this company, you can rest assure that your really eating/drinking what you think you are
