Tomorrow I move to school!! I am so excited! I was packed by the middle of the summer. I stocked up on a lot of protein powders!!! I am bringing my trusty blender and George Foreman! I am determined to come out of school with not only my degree but a fit, tight body!! I am so excited!

Self-Sabotaging??

I wonder why when I get very close to my goal, I end up sabotaging myself? I wonder if anyone else find themselves doing this… I’ll for a long time eating squeaky clean and then I end up overeating! I hope I’m not restricting too much. It tends to be in the evening when extreme hunger hits me! I am going to work on figuring how much I am eating and how much I should be around. If I am eating enough then I hope I am not eating for emotional reasons!!

Eco-Triathlon!!!

Last Sunday, August 5th was my Eco-triathlon!! I had so much fun!! My goal was just spend the summer training for something, and just to complete the thing. After it was over I just left without hearing the results, and the next day I looked online to fin out I placed 5th for the women’s division! I had mixed feelings, first that I was surprised I even placed at all, second that I wish I would of done better. I consider it as a learning experience… especially for my first tri! Next year I definately know what specifics I can train for - running up stairs, in sand, in mud, etc. Also I would like to invest in a bigger kayak, I raced with a wide 9′ and everybody had thin 12-15′ers! Additionally, I would like a road bike. I raced with my new mountain bike, whereas almost everyone had racing road bikes!! LOL, oh well!

It was fun to do something competitive again! It really made me think about figure/fitness competitions! Thats what I’m truly passionate about! I am going to order ‘The Figure Competition Training Guide’ DVD so when I find a contest in my area I could possibly do one. Until then, I am going to focus on lifting heavy and hard for muscle mass so I have something to diet down to!!!

Build muscle & lose fat?

Is is possible to build muscle while you lose body fat? OR should you focus on one thing at a time. I know that bodybuilders do ‘peaking’ during the year where they focus on building the muscle mass and then cut down before a contest. But then I know that a lot of bodybuilders stay really lean all year round.

I really want to build more muscle mass and stay lean…. How can I do that I wonder??? It definitely has to do with diet but I need to know what the macro nutrient ratios should be. I can get and stay lean on a high-protein, low-carb and low-fat diet but its hard for me to build muscle on that (lack of energy in gym).Hmmm….

My Triathlon (5.5 K Kayaking, 12K Biking, 5.5 K Trail Run) After my Triathlon (Aug. 5) I am going to start focusing on building muscle. Its hard to train for a triathlon and build muscle with all the cardio I’ve been doing.  I bought Joe Weider’s Training System DVD/CDRM and am going to try to follow a workout from there starting next monday. I am going to do research on what I should be eating to put on fat-free muscle mass… so I can look like a fitness/figure competitor!!

My Diet

I know that 80% of what someone looks like, is what they eat… so I need to be eating super clean to attain my goals. Today I tried very hard. Woke up late and did cardio on a empty stomach & all my meals were later than normal. Even when I went to a buffet with my family I stuck with the cleanest food I could find. Heres what I ate:

Meal 1 (11:00am -Post cardio):
*2 slices of Eziekel french toast (made with 3 egg whites, cinnamon, vanilla ext.)
topped with 2 tbsp. free coolwhip and 1/2 c. blueberries and strawberries
*2 slices of all-natural turkey bacon

Meal 2 (2:30pm):
*Cookies n Cream Whey Protein shake

Meal 3 (6:00pm):
*6 oz roasted turkey breast with 1/4 c. whole cranberry sauce
*2 oz red skinned potato wedges
*Mixed green salad with red onions, strawberries, mandarin oranges & rasp. vinaigrette
*Raw broccoli, carrots, cucumbers, tomatoes
*2 small slices of watermelon, muskmelon & cantaloupe

Meal 4 (9:00pm)
*2/3 c. fat-free cottage cheese
*1/2 c. pineapple

Meal 5 (11:00pm)
*Peanut Butter Cup Protein shake (PRO-Nos Whey Protein powder made with 1 tbsp natural peanut butter, 1 tbsp. cocoa powder, stevia, skim milk)
