Oh baby, oh baby
Oh baby, oh baby- what an awesome lift today!! Today was max lower, and I hit crazy new PR's in both squat and deadlift!
For squat: 1 rep at 365!!!
Deadlift: 1 rep at 275!!
The deadlift video I included was my friends idea of amusing. We were in the weight room with all the football boys, and they happened to be lifting with the weight I wanted to do, so I just worked right in. Hehe.
I am super happy with both of those lifts, but I must say that I was ridiculously spent afterwards. I only got in single leg RDLs, and pull through's after squat and deadlift because my legs literally had nothing left in them. 5 minute abs after too though. No cardio at the gym, but I did have a soccer game tonight in which I ran my butt off.
My goal for this week is to eat clean all week, and no junk food or chocolate at all! I'm going to start by giving myself the weekends to get what I feel like I need in. But steer clear of the bad stuff during the week. I think it will be a good way to ease back into my diet, and keep my sanity. Did good with that today, so hopefully tomorrow will be just as good. Oh, and tomorrow is max upper and I am really hoping for 200 on bench!!! I'll let you know how it goes.
Until next time...
Slowly but Surely
till not the best track record with keeping my posts going, but 2 or 3 a week is better than 1 or none! So the rest of the week went a little something like this...
Wednesday=max lower: Box Squat 315x3, Deadlift 225x3. Then hit hammys hard!
The squat I'm am pleased with, but not overly excited about like I was bench because I have obviously done 315 for way more than 3 reps before. However, simply having 315 on my back is more than I have done in a while, so I am pleased. Deadlift however, I AM excited about! If you just compared the first video I ever took of my deadlift, and then look at this one, it is like night and day as far as form is concerned. Which means- I'm finally getting it!! From here on out (hopefully) I can finally start seeing some increases in weight with deadlift, now that I can actually do it with proper form. So that was very exciting.
Thursday I did dynamic lower. I'm still not really sure what I want to do about dynamic days, like whether I want to do my core lifts with 2 sets of 10, or whether I want to work on speed and do 6 sets of 3. Still trying to feel that one out, and I'll probably talk to Ed about it too. This week I decided on 2 sets of 10 with 95lbs. After that I did a few supersets of bis and tris, and some shoulders. Did lots of abs at the end as well.Friday I did dynamic lower, which I actually had fun with. Did free squat for 2 sets of 10 with 135. Then split leg squats with my back foot up, super setted with leg press. Then a super set of rubber band kickbacks for glutes, and wide grip lat pulldown (gotta get my lats wider!!!), and finally single leg extension and lots of abs and core.
So slowly but surely I am getting back into things. I am slowly weaning myself back off of chocolate and junk foods that I shouldn't be eating and working back to clean eating. For example, this week I made cupcakes, but used applesauce to make them. They were still super delicious
But not too too unhealthy. Oh, something else I found this week that was awesome: I found that I have gotten sick of eating eggs, which is really quite unfortunate because they're such an awesome source of protein in the mornings, and the perfect breakfast food. But I just don't want to eat them! They're grossing me out. So, I have created a breakfast sandwich, because I can still stomach them in a sandwich. So it consists of Wegmans Lite English Muffins, 2 egg whites cooked up into a little patty, and a Morning Star Veggie Sausage Patty, with a slice of fat free cheese. Delish!Until next time...
Why Yes, I'll Take That!
So here I am, trying to follow through on getting back on track and updating! Yesterday I decided not to lift, and just went to soccer. We lost
. But I'm hoping it's just because we were rusty after a few weeks off. I decided that squat was not going to go well after soccer, and I didn't have time before because I had work all day. Today was work all day (outside all week this week, so add in that I'm pretty tired already from pushing carts outside all day), then spinning class, then lift. I decided to do max arms because I figured legs wouldn't go very well after spin class, plus my knees were bothering me a little too.
Lifting went as follows:
PB Bench 3x8reps super set with 1 minute jump rope
Lat Pull super set with rear delt fly 3x8
DB Chest fly super set with Face Pull 3x8
5 minute abs.
I am still feeling bloated, even though I have been doing well with cleaning up my diet
icky. I think I'm going to try over-loading on water and see if I can just pull a little water out because feeling this bloated is just not enjoyable. And I know it sounds like I might just be saying I'm bloated when I'm really not, but I asked other people, and they agreed that I just look bloated. So for the next 2 or 3 days, I will be peeing every 10 minutes.
I think that's all for now.
Until next time...
Getting Back on the Horse
So I'm getting back on the horse- and I mean that in more ways than one.
This week has been a serious roller coaster. I think I needed it to ensure my sanity, so my mind is very happy. However, my body is not so happy with me. I may have gone crazy and gained a lot of weight....(still under what I started this whole journey at, but a lot heavier than I have been in a while). The best way I can think to describe what I feel is that I feel like a giant sausage. Or maybe like 5 giant sausages put together: one for each of my arms and legs, and then my torso. Haha. Anyways, I wanted to give myself 2 weeks before I cleaned it back up, but I think I'm feeling done already. I havn't even hit 1 week yet, and I'm sick of all the junk. It's a little unfortunate though because I have crazy amounts of junk food that I thought I was going to want to eat, that has somehow lost its appeal now that I feel like a sausage. But, I'll give myself Easter to eat whatever, and then go back to eating clean. This means that candy is out, but home-made baked goods are acceptable in moderation, low fats, and whole grains
#3: Getting back on track with working out like a (semi) normal person.
I am exhausted! I have been training hard for a long, long time. The problem is- I don't want a break! However, I feel like I need one. So I'm taking time when I need it, but making sure I get in my max days at the very least. This week I did squat on Monday and I got 275 for 5 and DL 205 for 5, which, considering I havn't gone heavy in a good 6 weeks, I will definitely take. Tuesday I was going to do cardio, but was way too tired and ended up napping (which if you don't know me, I should tell you that this was highly irregular- as in, even when I was a baby and had nap time I didn't nap) instead. Wednesday I benched and put up 175 for 5, with a spot though. You can watch the video for that yourself and judge how well I really did, but I was more than happy with it. Thursday I did legs part 2, then today I decided to take the night off. I'm trying to convince myself that it is okay to take a break, but I have a feeling that I'll have to take a nice long run tomorrow to get rid of the guilt. I'm okay with that though.
#4: Overall just getting my life back on track.
Finally, I just want everything to get back to normal. For example, my house is a disaster, and it needs to end. I have declared Saturday Clean the House Day, and I swear, my apartment will be spotless! I will also get my nails done, and possibly, if i can find the right pair, buy a new pair of heels to wear to Easter church on Sunday
Lots to fit in, but if I can get back to the me I know myself to be, it can all get done with time to spare. If anyone wants to help me clean house though, please feel free to let me know
OH! I almost forgot! I didn't even put an update up of how I did this weekend! I did not win
But I think I did well anyways. I had good competition, and I have it on good authority that I only lost by 1 vote. So close! Anyways, it does not deter me at all from still wanting to compete again in the fall. I think I want to try and find an NPC show to go to this time too though. My goals for this summer are increase size in butt and hams, round out the shoulders a little more, increase width in lats, and increase size and definition in abs! Game on!
Until next time...
Results
Well- it's over! I completed my first show! In all honesty- since I don't really think many people actually read this so I'll be honest with myself, I wasn't incredibly pleased with the results. I did well, don't get me wrong. But I was really hoping for just a littleeeeee bit better. I got first in my height class for figure, but did not win overall. However, there were only 3 other girls in my height class, and one was more of a bikini model (she actually won bikini), and the other just didn't seem like very good competition at all. So yeah, I won, but I wish I had felt like it was more of an accomplishment. Ms. Fit Body though, I definitely was disappointed in. I ended up having to go on stage for Ms. Fit first, and then figure was after. So, I was so incredibly nervous for it! I was shaking on stage! My family & friends said you couldn't tell, but still. I definitely think that I can do much much better, and I plan to on the 31st! I'm glad I have 2 weeks though, because I have a few things I want to work on. Oh, first though, my actually rank was 4th place, but there were only 5 girls competing. I have no clue what the judges were looking for, because I definitely felt like I had better tone than at least 3 of the other girls, but they beat me. To be fair though, my posing was not exactly the best. I wasn't flexing nearly hard enough in pre-judging, and I think I did better at the evening show, but obviously the judges had already made their decision.
So, my goals for the next two weeks are to get strict strict strict with my diet, drink lots of water, and really kill abs. I want to try to come in a little leaner for the 31st, and I felt like my abs were lacking when compared to the other girls on stage. Today was back to work, so I did about 35 minutes of cardio, jog 2 minutes, run 1 minute, followed by abs of course.
Day off tomorrow, so I can really spend as much time as I need in the gym hitting legs, and get laundry done!
Cardio and last soccer game tomorrow night.
Thanks to everyone who came to support me and has supported me all along! I couldn't do it without the amazing words of encouragement from everyone! Keep it coming so I can take home a big win from Rochester! Check out my new pics from the show posted in the progress photos etc!
Until next time...
One More Day
So as I predicted, this week has been crazy! Busy busy busy! So basically- I'm just going to do a quick run through of what I did.
Monday- giant leg set. 4 sets, last set was just the weight of the bar and body weight because I thought I was going to die. Free squat (135), RDL (115), Lunges (25DB in each hand), GHR, Leg extensions. Phew! Cardio was soccer- at which btw I scored a hat trick! Ooooh baby. Pretty sweet.
Tuesday- Chest/back. Incined bench, chest fly, face pull, seated row. Cardio was 20 minutes on the track doing run 100/jog 100. 4 sets.
Wednesday- Shoulders: military press, rear delt fly, side raise, front raise. Cardio was just the pushing carts I did at work all day.
Thursday- fasted cardio in the AM. I was supposed to go lift after work, but there was no power!
So looks like no bis/tris this week. I don't think it will really make a huge difference (at least I'm hoping it doesn't!)
Diet this week is just very clean. Monday was a high carb day, but I kept it to about 70g, not 90 which is the usual. Then low carb (24g or less) for the rest of the week. On Monday and Tuesday I drank 2 gallons of water a day, then Wednesday I cut it down to 1.5, then today and tomorrow will be a gallon or less. I thought about doing the eat junk food at the show, but I've decided I want to save the junk for the final show. So Saturday I will be eating clean! Bringing all my food with me, which means I have to cook up some more chicken tomorrow. Busy busy day tomorrow!
Game plan from here on out.... work 7:30-3. Tan layer #2. Polygraph test. Shower/shave touch up. Final tan layer. Sleep. Wake up @ 5:30. Hair, make-up, leave at 7:30 for the show! Check-in at 9AM, pre-judging at 11AM, evening show at 6PM.
Finally- I've finally decided it's time to let the cat out of the bag- I'm finally launching all my progress pics! Here it goes...go check out my progress pics.
Until next time....with the results!
I Did It!
So- great news! We did one last skinfold measure before the competition. I am not 1 week out from the first show (3 from the second), and my bodyfat percentage is......13.2%!!!! I have a total of 17 pounds of fat on me total! Wow! That is just a crazy reality for me. I am super pumped. Basically, all I'm feeling right now, is even though I want to win really really really badly, no matter what the judges say- I did it! I worked my butt off for this, and I got here! Now all I have to do is smile really pretty and strut my stuff on stage.
As for the last few days, yesterday was max upper. No maxes really though so I did 135 for 2 sets of 10 (pretty proud of that one). Then I did pull ups, chest flys, and face pulls. (I feel like I did something else but it is seriously escaping me at the current moment so I'll just leave it at that!). Then I got on the treadmill- even though I was supremely exhausted after working outside pushing carts all day, then lifting and jumproping- and did 30 minutes of intervals. Hard work! I was very proud of myself for doing it though because I find that I'm rarely on the treadmill as of late, so that felt good.
Today was lower again, so I did free squats, leg press, single leg extension, and some glutes at the end (all with the 4# ankle weights) with jumprope of course. Then I got on the elliptical and did 40 minutes of cardio (and once again I was outside all day!). I'm not really going super crazy with anything in the gym this week (besides maybe kicking up my cardio a notch) because there isn't really too much more I can do in a week. So my plan of action from here on out is to keep my diet uber clean, keep my sets and reps up, and keep the cardio up.
Next week will be interesting, just because I feel like I have a ton to do! There is so much that goes into preparing for a show, especially since I've never done one before! I'm still working 40 hours next week, and its all Mon-Fri. My polygraph test is in Buffalo on Friday at 4:40; My nail appointment is on Tuesday at 10:30 (work is late that day); and my last minute posing session is on Sunday night. So basically that leaves shaving (which I will probably need someone to help me with :/ hopefully my friend Kelsey can get here!) and applying tan. I'm hoping that 2-3 coats of tan will do since I'm already pretty tan as is. I just really hope I will have time to fit everything in (and still get some sleep!!). Starting to feel pretty real.
Until next time...
11 Days
So yesterday was a leg day. I'm just going to write it all out quickly:
Box squat 2x10 at 225
Deadlift 3x10
RDL 4x12
Leg Extensions- 21 style- 4 sets
PB Single Leg Curls 4x12 each leg
Add in jump rope between sets, and 4lb ankle weights (4# on each!). No cardio due to lack of time, but I had soccer last night anyways so I go in a good hour anyways.
Then today was cardio and I had spin class. A pretty horrible class, didn't feel very motivated at all, but it was still good cardio.
The good news is my diet is going really well. I'm doing a good job of staying really strict on it. I got the munchies tonight but I chose to munch on popcorn!
Good decision.
Finally- I cannot believe there are only 11 days left!!! This Saturday is my last Saturday before the show! Wow, wow, wow. There will be a new skinfold measurement later this week, so I'll keep you updated on that. I'm hoping for a slight drop, especially because I've seen a light drop in body weight! Good stuff. I'm ready! Super nervous, but ready!
Oh- one more thing. Ashley went to the Arnold and informed me that it's all about the straight hair, so there has been a change of plans and we are going to just straighten the crap out of it! Got a nice trim today to make sure it doesn't look choppy (since it usually does when I straighten it because I have curly hair). Ready to go!
Until next time...
What a Weekend
So basically, this weekend was like heaven on earth. Saturday was my cheat day (obviouslyyy) and it was possibly THE most amazing meal I have ever had in my entire life, bar none! We (being the typical triple date I always seem to be on with my lovely roomie BigAsh, and her boyfriend Kyle) went to Brockport Diner, which has possibly the best breakfast food I have ever experienced. It's not that anything is especially out of this world, it's just that they do the classics exactly how I like them. So anyways, my life changing meal experience, aka a big-O for my mouth
was: 3 pieces of french toast (so sweet and delicious it was like dessert built right in, with just the right amount of cinnamon in it- YUM!), 3 pieces of bacon (cooked extra crispy but not burnt- PERFECT!), 3 eggs scrambled (I mean, how can you mess that up? still great), hash-browns (again, extra crispy and cooked to perfection, covered in ketchup of course), and 2 pieces of wheat toast. So basically, I gorged myself, and it was AMAZING! The perfect combination of fatty, greasy, sweet, and salty. So so so so so so good!! It was funny because we were all talking, but then as soon a the food got there it's like we forgot about each other and all were just dead silent, smiling, and eating (Kyle is also a bodybuilder, and so on a diet as well). For the finishing touch, I indulged in my favorite (maybe second favorite- second to my famously delicious red velvet cupcakes, but even I couldn't take it that far because there is an exorbitant amount of fat and butter in those; maybe I should think about fixing that recipe, hmmmm....) kind of cupcake, funfetti! Just the typical boxed kind, but I like to alter the recipe to use the typical applesauce (in lieu of oil), and eggwhites (as opposed to a whole egg). Therefore the only really 'bad' stuff in it is the stuff in the mix. It's just the easiest (and most delicious) dessert available if you're craving a cupcake. Finish off with some frosting and sprinkles (after licking the bowl of course!
), and it was the perfect topping to the most perfect meal ever!!!
And after posting about an entire page strictly on one meal, haha, back to the reality of training. Sunday was cardio, so I did about 40 minutes on the treadmill. To keep amused I changed up what I was doing 3 times; I started with 20 minutes at a 3..5 incline, doing a minute off, a minute on, at 5.0 speed for off, and 8.0 speed for on. Then did 10 minutes (or 5 sets), of a hill of 7.0, walking at a 3.5, running at a 6.0 (a minute on/off again). Then finally 10 more minutes at pretty much flat (1.0 hill), walking at a 3.5, and running at a 9.0. I really wanted to get some speed in there after that big hill, and it definitely felt good to get my legs moving fast after that. I was sweating up a storm, just the way I like it, and I feel like I almost worked off my excess indulgence from Saturday. Good stuff!
Today will be max lower, but I'm not lifting until later on, and after that I have soccer tonight at 10:30 (way past my bedtime!). So I figured I wouldn't have time to get on here tonight, so expect an update (and hopefully new squat video!!) tomorrow night.
Until next time...
Squatting Heavy A** Weight
So as I'm sure you can all surmise from my title of this post- max leg day went amazing yesterday!!! As you know, I've been having some trouble getting my numbers back up since starting the diet. I didn't really think much of it, nor do I still, because my goal is not numbers, but appearance. But when it just so happens that I put up big numbers and I am still kicking butt in the appearance department- heck! I'll take it! I included a video, but yesterday I got got 315 for 5 on box squat! Woohoo! Very exciting. Then I also put up a respectable 205 for 5 in deadlift, while still maintaining better form than in the past. I like it! Finished up my quick lift with some RDL's (4 sets of 12 with jumprope in between), and then some reverse hypers (same). I only got 8 minutes total of jumping in, but I had soccer last night too so I'm not too stressed about it.
In other exciting news- its Valentine's Day! And my wonderful and amazing boyfriend got new new shoes, a new shirt (picture included!) and a new Flag Nor Fail hoodie is on its way! Awesome! It's also pretty hilarious because we ended up getting each other the same thing! Haha- I also bought him a FnF hoodie, also still on its way. Funny
. Today will be cardio, but not until after a fancy Valentine's Day meal out at a restaurant. *Hopefully* it will not be much of a cheat, since I will be getting steak, and mostly steering clear of the carbs. I saved up my fats and carbs in anticipation of tonight though, so I should be all set
.
I'll keep you updated and hopefully get some new posing pics up this week.
Until next time...
PUshing Through It
Well, this week has been much of the same. Good days and bad days. I still protest that it's even harder being on a strict diet like this when you're a girl. I am SO an emotional eater, and I just want chocolate when I'm upset. This week has not exactly been the greatest, therefore, this weeks diet- also not the greatest
. Sad. But I just gotta keep pushing through it. From today, my show is in 2 weeks and 2 days! I can believe it! I'm definitely ready, but I can't decide whether I want it to hurry up and get here, or whether I'm super nervous and wish it was still farther away! Haha. Crazyyyyy. The good news is, during all of my piggy-ness, I have discovered a new absolutely delicious treat that is NOT a cheat!
Basically, I made my own little toast style smores! I have all natural dark chocolate almond spread, I put that on GF bread that's toasted (only 2 carbs!), and then on top of all that (this is the new one I found) ricemellow cream. It's a gluten-free, dairy-free, vegan marshmellow spread, like fluff, except natural and not incredibly filled with pure sugar! Yet still incredibly delicious! Yum yum yum yum yum yum. My tummy is happy finally.
Anyways, on to lifting. Yesterday was max upper, so I followed what I did for max lower this week, and did 135 for 2 sets of 8. Followed that up with inclined bench, then chest flys, the upward chest flys, then a row. Everything was 4 sets of 12, and I got up to 20 minutes of jumprope, then I did 25 minutes on the elliptical. Then tonight was lower again. I did free squat for 4 sets of 12, then glute pushes on the reverse hyper- 4x15, then super wide stance squats- 4x15, then quad extensions- 21 style. Did lots of abs and core after that. Got up to 20 minutes of jumprope (with the ankle weights!), and then did 30 minutes of elliptical to finish up.
Tomorrow is Friday, and I wish I were looking more forward to it, but unfortunately my weekends all seem to blend together since I don't actually get weekends off. Hoping it goes by quick! Thinking about Kyle tomorrow though because he's competing at the Arnold! Wishing him luck! I know he'll rock it- he looks great!
Until next time...
Killin it
So I'm 3 weeks out, officially less than right now. I'm pretty pumped, but I'm also getting pretty nervous! I asked Dan to come out and help me with another posing session the week of the show (aka in 2 weeks). I signed up for my polygraph today, and officially decided that I'm going to compete in Ms. Fit Body and Figure for both the Buffalo and Rochester shows. Oh boy!! A few other new things this week: I'm cutting red meat out of my diet totally, and dairy (or at least mostly dairy- I accidently (or not so accidentally) ate fat free cool whip today still); also, I'm not doing max lifts anymore *sigh*
. It's sad because I absolutely LOVE maxing, but I feel like with how intensely I'm dieting and how close I'm getting to the show(s), I just feel like keeping the reps higher will help me get closer to the look I want.
So that brings me to today's lift. It was a leg day, so I did box squat 225 for 2 sets of 8. Not gonna lie it was pretty tough! I did have to move my belt in a notch though, and that felt good
. Means I'm getting smaller!! Woohoo for a little waist! After that I did 3 sets of 10 deadlifts. I started with 135, but then kicked it up to 155. Good stuff. After that I added in the jumprope between sets, and the ankle weights. I did RDLs, 4 sets of 12, then GHR 4 (I might have done 5, I couldn't remember how many sets I did at 3 or 4, so I figured better to do 4 or 5 than 3 or 4- haha), then finally seat band curls (I did straight, then side, side as 1 reps using both feet). Finished it all off with 15 minutes of cardio and then a little core. I figured 15 minutes was sufficient since I had soccer tonight.
Which went well! We finally did NOT get our butts kicked, and we tied! I look like a fool more than a few times, like when I tripped over myself with the ball while there was no one around me, or when I smooshed my finger in the door and made it bleed so I had to leave to go get a band-aid, or when I was literally right in front of the goal and managed to miss like 3 shots on goal- you know- haha. But oh well! I got my sweat on and had some fun!
Oh- I havn't talked about make-up yet! So on Friday I went and had my make-up done at Sephora by Emily! She is also a figure model, so I definitely trust that she knows what she's doing more than anyone else!
She is also super duper awesome and told me she would take off so that she can do my make-up at both shows! Awesome awesome awesome! So pumped. If you want a sneak peek at what we practiced on Friday- check out the pic I included! Let me know if you think the eyes are a bit too dark? I can't decided. Take into consideration the fact that in this picture, I was in my bathroom, and at the show I will be on stage with lots of blinding lights on me. Let me know! Personally, I'm a HUGE fan! My face looks flawless! It's so beautiful!
When I first looked at this picture- I didn't even think it looked like me! Love it.
I thinkkk that's all for now! Tomorrow is cardio day- spinning- so don't expect a good update until Wednesday probably.
Until next time...
I am SO Ready!
So, I feel like it has been a while since my last post. So I will just go with a fairly quick recap of the last few days. Tuesday was cardio, no real surprises there: spin class for an hour. I really felt it though, felt like I really kicked my own butt. That's what I like (and hate) about spinning is that it can be as hard (or as easy) as you make it. In this case, it was a good thing because my butt definitely needed some kicking, and it got it! Wednesday was max upper. No real impressive numbers here, just 155 for 3. But I'll definitely take that. Last night I met with an IFBB Figure Pro- Hazal Nelson. She was a great help, but I was very surprised at what the poses are really supposed to look like (I'll talk more about that later).
Today I met with another Pro- Dan Iatomasi. He was a HUGE help! He really explained everything we went over, and explained more about how the shows go. He took me through all the poses for figure fro INBF, and I think that after this posing session, INBF is what I'd really like to stick with at this moment. Given that fact, that re-arranges my schedule a little bit. I got a lot of great feedback about how cut I look already, and because I think I could be ready a week early, and it would save me money (one polygraph, one membership) I have decided I'm going to compete in the INBF Supernatural Northeast in Buffalo on March 17th, and then in Rochester on March 31st. Dan also told me more about the Ms. Fit Body division. I had heard/read a little about it, but I wasn't sure exactly what it was or if I fell into that category. Basically (from what i got out of it) it is right in between bodybuilding and figure modeling; so a little harder than figure, but not quite as lean as bodybuilding. I think it sounds like my kind of thing! So, all these changes mean the new plan of action is: I am now 3 weeks out from my first show, 5 weeks out from my second. I am going to pay the cross-over fees and compete in both figure and Ms. Fit Body at both shows. My diet is going to pretty much stay the same, with a little change coming from my protein source coming pretty much only from chicken and fish from now on. Same carbs, same fats, same cheat day (only a dessert, not a meal).
Phew! Lots of information there. It is definitely way past my bedtime right now, so I'll wrap this up. Today was dynamic lower/quads, but I'm trying to tame down my quads a bit and focus more on flutes and hams, so I just did free squats, split leg DL, and BB lunges. Really felt it though, definitely a great lift regardless. Jumprope of course, but skipped the cardio because I'm going to be back in the gym at 7AM.
I did take new pictures tonight, but BigAsh says I should just build up the suspense and let you all see for yourself at the competition what I look like and what the suit looks like, and I think I'm going to take her advice. If you really really want to see, you'll just have to come to the show!!
I will say however, that my suit is amazing, beautiful, and fits me perfectly (PINK!). And I will say that the suit and the posing sessions made one heck of a difference. I am so ready for this show- I can't wait!
Maintaining my motivation and striving to win-that's my focus now.
Until next time...
Success feels good, and Chocolate tastes good
First of all- I just have to say that I love chocolate. Especially hot chocolate. Which I have been depriving myself of since I started my diet. However, a brilliant thought (that for some reason took 7 weeks...) occured to me this morning as I was deciding what to eat for carbs on this wonderful high carb day. My first thought was pancakes, but I'd really like to try out a protein pancake (which is low in carbs), so I elected instead for oatmeal. As I was fishing around for oatmeal in my cupboard, I saw my unsweetened cocoa powder and thought, man I miss hot chocolate. Then I thought, well why don't I just make some from scratch? I could use almond milk and splenda/truvia, and I can drink it! Oh wow. Silly me not to have thought of that before! But I must say, now that I have, it is soooo delicious, and I will definitely be indulging it in more often from now on
. Yum!
On to other things, like lifting! Yesterday was cardio, and I got a good 40 minutes in on the treadmill. Today was max leg day, and that mean squat! I was pleased with my squat, I got 315 for 3. I know I did 315 for 5 last week, but I also did not lift at 6:30AM last week, and I had a lot more food in my system at the time, so I'll take this week's lift. Then I got what I believe is the best deadlift I've ever had! I included a video, so you can judge for yourself, but I got 225 for 3 AND kept good form! Pretty exciting.
Finished off today with wide-stance RDLs (4x12; 1 minute jumping in between), glute kick backs on the reverse hyper machine, and finally got glute/ham bridges. 25 minutes of cardio on the elliptical, then some abs, and I called it a day!
I also decided it was time for some pics in my beautiful new hoodie from FNF, so I added a pic of that below too
. Cardio day with spin class tomorrow, then looking forward to my posing session with Hazal Nelson on Wednesday! I'll keep you updated!

Pictures - Take 2!
Today was max upper, and it went pretty well. I got up to 155 for 5 on bench, which really isn't bad- I'll take it! After that I did incline bench, 4 sets of 12 (1 minute of jump rope in between), then some chest flys with my feet up, rear delt flys, then finally some wide grip lat pulldowns. I did everything (after bench) with the wrist weights too. Good workout! Then finally hit the elliptical for 20 minutes of cardio, got a nice good sweat goin' with that too!
After the gym, I took some more pictures and I feel like it went better, but let me know if you think they look any different. I think that I need to work on looking less stiff with my upper body. Hopefully I'm getting some legit posing session from Pro's soon though- so that should change!
Check them out in my progress photos!
