Absence

Saturday, September 26th, 2009

I’m taking a break for a while from my profile. There are a LOT of things going on in my life, and trying to keep up with my bodyspace profile just has to take a back seat for now. My fitness/health routine is so out of whack as it is, that there really isn’t any purpose to reporting it. I’m coming to terms with the fact that I’m 28, I have a full time job, I have a family (and I’m getting ready to add a second child), and I’m a full-time graduate student (phd).

So I’ll keep this as updated as I can, and I’m going to attempt to keep myself as fit as possible. But it’s not an easy task. For those that like to post on my profile and/or blog, you may still do so. I’ll be checking my site, but probably just not posting as much.

Take care everyone. I wish you all the best in your own personal journies!
Nate

PM- 30 minutes, swimming

Not as much as I’d like to do, but it was good to get in the water and go.

PM- 50 minutes, weights, full body

Activity was great this weekend!

Diet was a different story. I ate a lot of fast food this weekend (always tends to happen when I spend time with family). So this next week I really need to stay focused on eating well.

I think I’m noticing some differences in my physique…some good, some not so good. My muscles are getting tighter, and I’ve gained in strength. I just need to really focus on losing the bodyfat, and I’m not going to get it done if I keep eating junk food! Focus, focus, focus. Yeah, if it were only that easy.

We’ll see what next week brings. :)

PM- 40 minutes, tubing on a lake

Felt great! Water was nice and cool, and the sun was warm. Haven’t been tubing in a long time, and my muscles are quite sore. I’m going to attempt to lift some weights tomorrow. We’ll see how that goes!

After my workout, I ate supper, and then began painting some interior walls to the house. Fun night! :)

Nothing. Woke up too late, had way too much to do at work, and had a night class at the university.

AAAAAARRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHH!

AM- 20 minutes, stretching/yoga
PM- 25 minutes, treadmill, 2.23 miles, 1.5% incline, 112 ending HR

Diet:
I’m not eating a whole lot during the days. My schedule at the school is so hectic that I barely can find time to breath and keep myself hydrated, let alone actually eat something. For some weird reason, I’m finding my time filled with something to do every second of my day this year, which has not always happened in the past. Maybe I’m trying too hard? At any rate, it’s killing my diet. Not taking the time to eat during the day means I pig out when I get home. Lately I’ve been eating a lot of junk food when I get home in the late afternoons, and then I fix a very large supper, and well, the rest goes down the drain from there. I’m trying to force myself to eat at school, but that is becoming very difficult to fully achieve.

Only two more days left of the workweek, though! :)

Wow, it’s been a while!

AM - 20 Minutes Treadmill, 1.94 miles, 1% incline
PM - 45 Minutes Weights, Full Body, 22 sets total

I’m really excited about my accomplishments today! After suffering from allergies all last week, I was itching to get back into the swing of things. The most I could get done last week was a few walking sessions on the treadmill in the mornings. It’s so difficult to get anything done when you’re constantly exhausted and I can’t breathe. I HATE ALLERGIES! But I am getting better, and my breathing is fairly normal. I’m stuck with a cough, though, that will last probably another two weeks or so, but my sinuses are clearing up pretty well. I carried my inhaler with me to my weights session tonight, but I didn’t have to use it once! YIPPEE!!

I’m already feeling the soreness and fatigue on my muscles from my weights session. I used a lot of dumbbells, so my wrists and forearms are tight. I love using dumbbells because of a few reasons. First, they provide a more open range of motion, allow for better flexibility, and they really tear your grip ability apart! So yeah, stiff is a good word to use. :)

We’ll see if I can keep this going all week. Hopefully I don’t contract something worse than my allergies. There’s a lot of stuff going around the school right now. With blessings from God, I’ll just have to suffer my allergies and sinus issues.

Being Miserable

Sunday, September 6th, 2009

So all of last week I was fighting my fall allergies. The weather patterns changed dramatically, and whatever it is that I’m allergic to is in full swing. Congestion, nose issues, throat soreness, breathing problems, and the cough–that’s the worst part of all. A dry, heaving cough that tenses my whole body. Painful, actually.

I’ve been taking the anti-histamine that the dr. prescribed a long time ago (I’m supposed to take it continuously), and I’ve added some pain killers periodically, throat drops, etc. This infection hasn’t been as serious as some of the others I’ve had, but still, enough to make me feel miserable. And it doesn’t help that I can’t really be less productive at work. My studnets need their lessons, and I need to keep up with them. So I’m forced to plug along and do the best I can. I almost lost my voice at the end of Thursday, but I made it through.

I’m feeling a lot better now, but I’ll probably go through most of this week with the voice/throat issue, and the cough will probably last another two or three weeks. The asthma part of all this is that I can’t breath properly, so I cough to force the air out of my body. I’m very thankful for the inhaler at times!

Last week, I didn’t do a whole lot as far as exercising. Always felt exhausted, or couldn’t breath. I’m hoping this coming week I’m able to get back into the gym and do something. I’m losing a bit of weight, so that’s a good sign. Not that I wanted to lose any weight, but I know I’ll probably have to lose some of the weight in order to drop the bodyfat. I’m not lucky enough to be able to keep the nice weight and turn it all into muscle like some guys.

Oh well, the important thing is that I can start doing things again. I feel so much better about everything when I can just go do something. I hate being limited/restricted, and I hate being so worn out all the time.
