Summer classes…let the fun begin!
The July session started this week for me at KU. I’m taking two courses: research methods and intro to statistical analysis. Both are fun (I know, only very odd individuals ever say research and stats are "fun"). So far it’s been mostly review for me. Being a debate coach, a teacher, personal trainer, and having taken some classes that have dealt with stats and research already, I’m in pretty good shape. Ask me in another week, I might tell you something different. But I really am enjoying the classes.
The good news is that I’m back on a schedule. During the summer months, I sometimes get very lazy in my routine because I’m not on a daily schedule. So being in class all day long helps me there. The disadvantage to that is the schedule isn’t as convenient this time around for my workouts. But I can still plan two strength workouts per week and hopefully at least one cardio/flexibility training session. I’m going to hopefully get to go swimming today. Though I won’t be doing laps, I can do all sorts of things in a pool to give me a pretty good workout. Water is great resistance!
When done with this session of classes, I’ll have 13 graduate hours to my name (presuming I pass, lol). That’s about 1/3 of the way done for a 36-40 hour MS degree. Most masters require a minimum of 30…as does mine. But by the time you add in all the thesis hours, it will be more like 40. That’s ok, gives me good practice in research (and that’s good because I want to be a psychological researcher someday).
So the fun begins. I hope to be able to continue doing my workouts and keep progressing. I’ve got a strength program that is just "killing" me, in a good way. It’s awesome, and the cool thing about it is: it’s extremely basic! I’d like to get up to 190 lbs and be at 10% bodyfat, but I’m not sure if I’ll make that. I’m going to aim for it and get as close as I can. Originally, I set a target date for August 1 of this year, but I may need to push back to September. We’ll see.
And now some more studying and then on to my stats class!
