Wow, where did 2007 go? Seems like time is just passing me by, and I’m getting older, and I’m missing out of the important things of life. AAAAAAGGGGGGHHHHHHHH!
Which brings me to my post today…Getting into 2008. What is this new year all about?
1. Getting my life in order. Yeah, seems pretty deep, and I suppose it is. But I really want to make 2008 the best year of my life. Not just with fitness and health, but with my career, my family, my beliefs, my friends, etc. I’ve made a priority list for this year, and believe it or not, fitness isn’t at the very top. But, I’m not giving up on achieving my fitness goals; rather, I’m just putting aside my long-time wish list of having those 6-pack abs that I know I’ll never need and never be able to achieve.
2. Being in the best shape of my life. I want to get a little bit stronger, a little bit faster, and hopefully, a little bit bigger (muscle). We’ll see how this works with fitness being about third on my priority list.
3. Making changes. I begin graduate classes this week at KU (Kansas), which is a huge step forward in my life. I’ve decided to go for my dream, and enter a PhD program. No, it’s not in exercise science, or any fitness/physcial ed related program….kind of. I’m pursuing educational psychology. I’ve always been fascinated at why and how people learn, and why and how we think/act the way we do. This degree will allow me to do so much in and out of the field of education, and looks like it will be a lot of fun. Of course, any PhD is going to have it’s challenges, which is why 2008 is about making changes. I’ll have to learn to make sacrifices, and I’ll have to be able to adapt to whatever is thrown my way.
4. Helping someone. Yeah, sure, I do this day in and day out as a teacher. But I mean really digging in the dirt and helping someone become successful. Doesn’t have to be in the classroom. I just want to be able to inspire someone to make changes and become a better person. In return, I’m sure I will be inspired to become better.
Okay, so this was all quite philosophical. But that’s my life. Now I get to go apply those things before next January. I’ll let you know how it goes.
Take care….and God bless you in 2008!
Nate
