Update

Wednesday, November 28th, 2007

In case anyone was sitting on the edge of their seats, here’s what’s been happening:

Monday, 11/26
Bodypump: Full body workout. Great as usual. Very sore now.

Tuesday, 11/27
Full body massage. I’m feeling really nice right now. Very relaxed. Still sore from BP though. I recommend everyone getting a massage at least every once in a while.

Today:
Hopefully some kind of workout, depending on how sore I am.

Thanksgiving Review

Saturday, November 24th, 2007

As usual, my diet wasn’t that great. I was even going to try and make sure my diet was good over Thanksgiving break, but I didn’t. I guess the good thing is that with all the extra calories, I can pretend I’m on a bulk cycle.    :)

Training….lack thereof more like it. I’ve been working on some deep stretches and relaxation moves, especially since my rough workout on Sunday. I was sore all the way through Friday. Finally, today, I have some mobility and flexibility back. My lower right side of my back still is sore if I try to reach for my toes, though. Makes it difficult to tie a shoe.

But, I got to spend some awesome time with both my family and my wife’s family, and that’s what’s most important to me. If I don’t have a 6-pack, well, so be it. Life goes by too fast and there are too many other more important things to worry about.

I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving.

Icy Hot 2

Sunday, November 18th, 2007

Wow, I don’t think I’ve used as much Icy Hot as I have in the past week!

This past Thursday, I worked upper body. Awesome workout! Friday, I worked lower body. Almost an awesome workout. Good, but I just wasn’t as focused.

Today, full body workout, and it was AWESOME! Added hang clean, which I haven’t done in a while, and pushed myself with the weights a bit. Three sets of consistent 215 for squats. That’s a lot better than I’ve ever done. Yea for progress!

But now I’m hurting. The right side of my lower back is just wrenching in pain right now, and has been ever since my workout earlier today. I had to Icy Hot my lower back on the 13th, and the pain never really went away. I know it’s nothing serious YET, and I hope it doesn’t become serious. So…..I get to take some time off, which is probably better anyway since Thanksgiving is coming up and I won’t have a lot of time for a workout anyway.

Icy Hot

Tuesday, November 13th, 2007

I don’t really like using Icy Hot or other muscle relaxing aids, but this morning I have to put some on. My lower back and chest are killing me after Bodypump yesterday! I challenged myself with the most weight I’ve ever used for BP, and I’m feeling it for sure. I actually started feeling it last night, so I know I’ll be sore by the time 8 pm rolls around tonight.

So, here’s to some stretching, and to the Icy Hot. Recovery, recovery, recovery, recovery…

Measurement confusion

Sunday, November 11th, 2007

Why can’t I get stable body stats? It’s frustrating!

Does my body really drop .5 inch or add .5 inch in a week? It seems like most of my measurements have been all over the place. Granted, they’re all within about an inch of each other, so it could be the way the stats are taken (I think I’m consistent each time), or maybe I just had really good or bad weeks, depending on what I’m measuring and the result I get.

Anyone else have this problem?

Kansas

Sunday, November 11th, 2007

Highest rank in at least a very long time for KU football! I don’t even care that much for football, but I love KU, and they’re killing everyone so far this year.

Now that OSU has been wiped out, we just need to focus on MU and OU.

Go Jayhawks!!!!!!!!!

Pilates and Cardio

Wednesday, November 7th, 2007

Killers, both of them. Especially right after each other.

Actually, I did more than the title of this blog suggests.

4:45-5:30 pm        Racquetball
5:45-6:30 pm          Pilates
6:30-7:00 pm         Cardio Class

I’m tired and going to bed. Diet today was not that great. Had pizza for lunch (greasy pepperoni, too). Yeah, I know, I’m bad. But that’s why I don’t have a 6-pack, and I know it.

Today

Monday, November 5th, 2007

A much better day! :)

Breakfast:
3 grilled eggs (w/ fat free spray)
2 slices toast w/butter (not much)

Snack:
Banana
1 serving nut mix (w/ chocolate chips)
1 single serving box fruit loop cereal (dry)

Lunch:
6 inch sub (wheat roll)
w/ bacon slices and grilled chicken
w/ lettuce and onion
w/ swiss cheese
w/ ranch dressing
1 serving potato chips
Diet coke (can)

Snack: (after workout)
Protein shake (40 g protein)

Supper (getting ready to fix):
Baked chicken thighs
Boiled rice
Asian stirfry veggie mix (steamed)

Considering what I had been eating the past week or so, this has been a great day! Maybe I can actually keep my diet in order.

week from hades is over!

Sunday, November 4th, 2007

yea! i can get back into my routine of dietary strictness and exercising. this past weekend was tourney hosting for me and my team, and so the entire week i didn’t focus on what i was eating, and i only got in two workouts-one weights and one cardio. so i knew i would suffer come measurement time, which was tonight.

my waist went up a whole inch! wow! but, considering all the junk….that’s being very nice….i ate this past week, i’m not surprised. more frustrated and angry at myself, but not surprised.

hips went up 1/2 inch, probably to correspond with the increase on my waist. i’m feeling so fat right now.

i did have some encouraging measurements though. my shoulders increased another 1/2 inch. i think maybe the less training for my shoulders has allowed them to grow a bit. my chest is staying steady at 42. actually, my chest measurement was slightly higher than 42, but not quite to the 1/4 inch mark. hopefully next week. calves went back up to 15.75, which is nice, thighs up to 23 (with no increase in fat there), and my arms are playing cat and mouse at 13.5 and 13.75.

overall, i’m still in good shape, and i’m looking forward to getting back into my normal routine of things. i’m going to really watch my diet this week, and today i did pretty well. i have bodypump monday, hopefully some racquetball either monday or tuesday, pilates and cardio classes on wednesday, and hopefully at least one more full body weight workout. it will be nice to hit it hard and heavy this week after a bit of a break.

and yes, in case you’re wondering, i purposefully did not use any capitalization marks in this blog. don’t tell anyone.
