a new program

Friday, June 29th, 2007

I’m giving up one of my BodyPump classes during the week. That’s good for me in the sense that I can now rearrange my workout schedule to get in more workouts that I really like to get. I love BodyPump, but having a Mon and a Thur class kind messed up the weekly schedule, mostly resistance training.

So now I should be able to try some exercises I haven’t done and haven’t had the time to try. A nice challenge.

To good health and fitness!

today’s workout

Sunday, June 10th, 2007

cardio oriented. timed sets of 60 seconds for resistance exercises.

warmup
jog 1 mile - 9:30 minutes
bb deadlifts - 75 lbs
body lunges - bodyweight
clean/press - 55 lbs

work
front squat - 55 lbs
bent over row - 55 lbs
db incline chest - 30 lbs per db
db bicep curl - 10 lbs per db
tricep bench dip - bodyweight
lateral squat - 75 lbs

a light workout, by all means of strength. but the goal was cardiovascular endurance, muscular endurance, so light weight was necessary. for those of you who absolutely can’t go a workout without counting reps, 60 seconds averages 18-23 reps, depending on the speed. i tend to use slow movements, so usually i get upwards of 20 reps/set. i love the timed sets principle. i get an awesome workout that way!

oh, and this workout was done at home, in my garage. it’s hot and humid here in KC, MO, so it was awesome sweating outside getting in a great workout! i’m still panting, and it was over an hour and a half ago.

tomorrow is bodypump! i love that workout, too!

The second quarter century

Sunday, June 10th, 2007

Yesterday, I turned 26. Though it’s one year older, I feel younger. I’m in the best shape of my life, I have a very adorable 10-month old daughter, and my wife still loves me after several years! I couldn’t ask for anything more.

As I look at the next few years, I think of all the possibilities. Not just in fitness, but in all areas of my life. Indeed, life is a great adventure, and I’m so blessed to have everything that I have and to be able to do everything I can do.

A true new year’s resolution should begin today, on my birthday. My resolution is to make year 26 better than year 25. I think that if I commit to God, my family, and myself, I can accomplish that resolution with high esteem. After all, year 25 was better than year 24.

God bless everyone, and have a great day!

Yea, progress!

Wednesday, June 6th, 2007

Finally, I took some updated pics. I still don’t think I take pics that well (though I tend to be very photogenic). Probably the poor lighting in my house. Oh well, I posted updated pics of me, in all my "glory."

I will admit that I look a lot better than before. Just in the past couple of months, I’ve noticed some changes (and so has my wife). That, along with becoming stronger and more flexible, has helped me feel a LOT better about myself, my family, life, etc.

All is good in hokey Blue Springs, MO!    :)
