8 days out

Friday, August 31st, 2007

I am so stressed right now it is not even funny.  I am sticking to my guns as far as strict diet and cardio goes.  I feel like I have no energy to lift though.  No motivation.  This is exactly why I added the carbs and cut down on the cardio before the last contest.  The bad thing is that I feel like the loose skin or fat or whatever it is around my mid section is not going away.  I have lost 4 1/2 pounds over the last 3 weeks and the mirror is showing me nothing.  Am I burning muscle?

3 weeks out from 2nd show

Saturday, August 18th, 2007

I am 3 weeks out and truly regretting the pigout feast after the show and the next day at the Chinese buffet.  I need to be super ripped to do any better than last contest so I am going back to my cardio routine first thing in the morning for 45 mins. on my bike.  That seemed to take me down where I wanted to be and then some guys at the gym told me I needed to be careful so that I didn’t peak too soon.  I added some carbs in the early morning (Ezekiel bread or oatmeal) and backed off of cardio and came in not as ripped as I would have liked to be.  So for the next 3 weeks I am going to be known as Cardio King!  We will see what happens.  Until then….take care to all and God bless!

The results are in…

  • I have to say that it was an experience that I will never forget.  I DID IT!  I finally got on stage.  My first class was the Mens Novice Lightweight with 9 competitors and I finished 3rd.  Very happy about that!  The guy who won my class won the overall novice and said that it was the most competitive field he had been against.  My second class was Mens 35+ and we had 8 competitors.  I finished 5th.  Making the top five with all weight classes involved also made me very happy.  My third class was the Mens Open Middleweight and we had 6 competitors.  I finished 4th.  Again making the top 5 was an accomplishment in itself for the Open class.  Overall, very happy with the results and experience.  My music CD would not work so I had to wing it to house music.  They had alot of problems with the music for alot of people.  Learning to wing it on a prayer was an experience to say the least.  I was nervous enough to be there for the first time performing alone in front of a bunch of people with nothing but a glorified G-string and didn’t need any problems like that to complicate matters.  But there again, I DID IT!  It felt great and I am looking forward to many more contests in the future.  The next one….4 weeks out!  I then plan to compete at the NPC West Virginia State Mid Atlantic Grand Prix in Wheeling, WV on Sept. 22.  A week after that I get to attend the Mr. Olympia in Vegas baby!  OH YEAH!  What a way to celebrate my first year of competing!

For now, it is off to the Chinese buffet to pig out for the last time this weekend.  I had a lot of pizza after the show last night and have made several trips to the John.  Going for a bike ride this evening to try and counter the effects of all the food intake.  Back to the grindstone Monday!  Chicken and steamed green beans get old after a while.  Thanks for taking the time to read my page!  God bless and take care to all!

Day before the show

Friday, August 10th, 2007

I am now sitting at the hotel in D.C. waiting for my polygraph test appointment in about an hour and a half.  The water has been sucked out of my body and the carbs depleted.  I will begin to carb load after I weigh in this evening.  At this point, I feel better about myself than I ever have in my life.  This feeling is better than any drink or drug could ever make me feel.  I have actually accomplished something for the first time in my life.  I trully give all the credit to God.  As my forum signature states, "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me."

Thanks for all the support from my friends and well wishers on bodyspace through all the adversity I have overcome throughout the last 6 months of my life.  I will post the results and some contest pics as soon as possible.

6 days out

Sunday, August 5th, 2007

The time has come!  I am very excited.  I have finally arrived at the point I have dreamed about all my life…stepping on stage to compete.  It will be a reality and goal accomplished coming this Saturday.  Nothing in life that is worth anything or means anything comes easy.  This has definitely been a challenge, but the feeling I have about myself now is better than anything.

I went back to the neck doctor last Tuesday for my 3 month checkup and he has fully released me from all restrictions (i.e. squatting, bent-over rows and deadlifts).  Once I complete the competitions this year I hope to put on some serious size for next years comps.

I will post the results from the show as soon as possible.  Thanks to all for your support.
