Unbelievable Recovery from Surgery

Sunday, April 22nd, 2007

Thanks to all of the prayers and God’s healing touch on my neck.  The doctor actually released me to return to lifting only two weeks after surgery.  PRAISE GOD!  There are stipulations however: No deadlifts, squats (front squats are okay), and no barbell rows.  He told me to take it slow and easy and listen to my body.  I can’t complain a bit.  After all, pre-operation the doc told me it would be 3 months before I was able to lift again and if I didn’t listen to him, I would probably be having the surgery for a second time.

In the book of John 10:10 it says, "The enemy comes to steal, kill and destroy.  But Jesus came to give life and more abundantly."  AMEN  I refuse to listen to the devil!  He has tried and tried to wipe me out (it seems all of my life) with drugs and alcohol and now that God has delivered me from those and set me on the path of freedom, the devil comes and tries to destroy me with an injury that is so severe that it required major surgery.  All along I relied upon my faith in God and now look, I am back to training!  Praise God!  Thank you again to all the prayers!  They have been answered and I am doing better than I could even have imagined.  Anyone who has gone through some of the trials like I have and had God’s presence show up and change the impossible to possible cannot deny Him!  He is worthy of my praises!  Isaiah 40:31 is another one of my favorite verses for it says, "Those who wait upon the Lord will renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles.  They shall run and not be weary; They shall walk and not faint."

I will be posting some updated pics (even though I have lost alot of muscle) so that I can keep a timeline of progress for myself to see where I came from.  Through all of this I have again been taught a lesson and that is: Humility   I have to remain humble and I can only be humble by being honest with myself and others.  So even though these pics that are soon to come are really showing digress as far as muscle goes hopefully you will see that the cardio has helped me to shed alot of bodyfat.  Thanks for stopping by and taking the time to read this!  God bless you all!

Post-Operation: Recovery Mode

Wednesday, April 11th, 2007

Thank you to all those who have been praying for me.  God is so faithful and such an AWESOME GOD!  Glory and praise be to Him!  The surgery went very well and I am looking at a very long and slow recovery.  The doctor said it would probably be a minimum of 3 months before I can start lifting again provided everything goes as planned.  I have never been a very patient person but God has definitely been training me in this area.  I have also learned that the sooner you pass the test the quicker you move on to the next level.  I go back to the doctor on April 17 for my post-op check up and will provide another update after that.  On the bright side, I am able to continue on my stationary bike for cardio and was able to start that up again on this past Monday.  By the time I do get back to hitting the weights at least I will be able to see results immediately due to no fat hiding the muscles so that is a very good thing.

God bless you all and I will be updating again next week.  Thank you again for the prayers and I would appreciate them as well in my recovery.

Surgery: Tomorrow P.M.

Tuesday, April 3rd, 2007

The procedure I am having done is called: Anterior Cervical Discectomy Fusion surgery.  I am not looking forward to it for I have been informed it is a risky surgery (anyone looking forward to this needs a check-up from the neck up :D ).  It is what it is and it could get worse if I don’t get it fixed.  So now the time has come.  All your prayers are very much appreciated and I will be posting an update as soon as I am able to.  As His word says, "If God be for me, who can be against me!"  I am going into this expecting His favor and what a time of season to be resurrected!  As the Governator says, "I’ll be back!".  Until then, God bless you all who have stopped by and once again your thoughts and prayers are greatly appreciated.
