Why to I fall ill?

July 28, 2009

It seems that every time I start to make progress something happens and I fall ill for a while, wether it be a cold, a strain, thyroid probs, etc. etc.

My body seems to say , hey stop it you’re not supposed to look good.

Flyes for mass?

July 23, 2009

Been trying to add mass to my chest for ages using dumbbell and barbell bench presses and inclines/ declines , not much success.

At the moment I’m focusing on shoulders and back so only doing 4 sets of flyes for my chest to stretch it out.

The thing is , I’ve gained a couple of inches and the pecs are starting to look pretty meaty!

Guess it shows you never know what works for you personally until you try .

Although I never intended to alter my chest that much this quarter, a month in I’m really pleased with the surprising results!

Isn’t bodybuilding great:)

Slow and steady

June 15, 2009

First time back in training since I fell ill.

Only managed four sets of db bench press.

I’ve lost sooo much strength and size but bit by bit I’ll increase sets reps and load and progress will come….come on!!!

Me and my thyroid

May 30, 2009

Well, I started losing weight at the end of April, I thought I was just burning fat at first and after a couple of weeks I was around 10lbs down I thought all was going great.

Then I started to feel ill and I was losing strength too , and feeling pretty exausted.

To cut a long story short my thyroid has gone off the scale, hyperactive and I’ve lost a total of 28lbs in 5 weeks, I can’t train as I am exhausted all the time, I’m struggling to eat as I never feel hungry.I’ve spent 2 days in hospital being assessed and am now home with lots of medication to sort me out.

All the training I’ve done since january and the progress I made has gone.

I’m weak and thin again and still losing weight.

Don’t know how long these pills will take to stabilise me, so I haven’t the energy to train yet.

One day I’ll get back to my best again, must stay positive ….

Welcome!

April 2, 2009

OK! They say life begins at 40; well I turned 40 last August and I must admit I don’t feel any different!

But one thing has been niggling away in my mind for a long time..

I got into bodybuilding in my teens, but with no great success, lacking in knowledge, seriously lacking in genetics, and with no experience I trained on and off for many years never really ‘doing it properly’.And never really getting any decent gains.

Although I enjoyed the training and the whole fitness lifestyle.

After about a fifteen year sabatical I’ve recently been finding myself dreaming again of starting over and making progress this time, so I’ve done some research, got myself motivated and I’m on my way.

Slow and steady wins the race, no turning back now this is a lifestyle change and I’m feeling pretty good about it..

Let’s see what the future brings…..
