Last Doctors Visit

Went to the doctors office yesterday for what turns out to be my last visit for this injury. The actual visit lasted all for about 5 minutes but that’s all that was needed. The doc did the usual tests grabbing my hand and turning my wrist and putting pressure while I’m trying to resist and the other is where my hand is out at a 90 degree angle and he presses down on my hand and I try to pull up like a curl. He said that I have about 80% of the strength in my left arm as I do in my right. He was pleased with the results and so was I. This is about as strong as it’s gonna get but I can do everything I need to with some limitations. I got the OK to play softball and golf as well so it was a good day. Told him not to take it personally but I hope I never see him again and I hope I don’t.

Saturday, March 8th, 2008

Well the run was this morning but between my friend being sick and not running it plus the weather calling for rain all day I decided to skip the run. It would have been good to try, I worked up to 9.35 last week and this one would have been more hilly but there will be another one. I did put in 5.2 before the race would have started and the rain came and worked out a few hours later. I think the next one is the half in May, hopefully the weather will cooperate then.

Well i wanted to get 9 miles in today and I wound up doing 9.35. I wanted to make sure I would finish the race next week since I’ve never gotten that far. It supposedly is a lot hillier than I’m used to so I figure my time should be a little slower than today although the wind was kicking the whole 4.5 miles back. It helps on the way out but sucks coming in so maybe they will offset each other. I’m hoping for under 1 hour and a half which would be under 10 minute miles. I don’t want to start to strong and wear out at the end. I’ll post the numbers next week.

I don’t know how it happened but I let my friend at work talk me into run ning a 15K next Saturday. I still haven’t reached 9 miles yet , the best I have done so far is 8.79. I’m gonna try for 9 tomorrow and then I figure I could add .3 onto that next week. I still haven’t decided if I want to run for this long, I sort of think 10K’s will be enough for me. I still have to run the half maraton in May and Sept.

Workouts have been going very well. I think these full body workouts are working out well for me. My chest is getting bigger along with my arms, my shoulders look like their getting their pump back. Even my abs are coming along, they still have alot of work but they are getting better. Keep on keeping on.
