Quick Update

Tuesday, December 25th, 2007

First off Merry Christmas. The workouts are starting to get better. I’m up to 3 days a week full body workouts each time. Still using light weights but there going up and reps are are still about 20 times. Still trying to run 3 times a week but sometimes I’m only making it on the weekends. Weight was 192 which was my goal but it went back to 197 today after last night and today. I should get it back down in a few days. Abs are starting to show but not enough so I’ll shoot to lose another 5. Happy and Healthy New Year everyone!

Past Week

Monday, December 10th, 2007

Still easing into my workouts. Added incline and decline benchpress, tricep pressdowns, dumbell shoulder presses, dumbell lateral and front raises. I have to start adding squats and other leg work back. I’m still not doing any back exercises until Iget the OK from the doc. Those all seem to put a strain on the bicep where I tore it.

Only ran twice last week, 1 for 4 miles and yesterday I ran 8.6  miles. A personal best. I don’t know how much longer I’ll go if at all, it took me 1 hour and 20 minutes to finish yesterday and unless I find a race to train for I’m thinking of keeping it at 1 hour. Who knows I’m so close I should reach for 10 once.

2nd Run and Update

Sunday, December 2nd, 2007

I ran my second race yesterday. A 5k with my brother. He only started ru nning 2 months on a dare by some of his friends. We ran together for the first 2 and a half miles and then we hit a straight away and he told me to just go. I wound up finishing with a pace of 8:56 for about 27:43. Somewhere around there anyway I forget the exact time. My brother finished in about 28:47 for a pace of 9:15. I came in 264 and he came in 298 out of 621. We had a good time doing it and I told him let’s make it in the top half so we both did that as well. Let’s see if he keeps going now.

Went to the doc’s on Tuesday and finally got some encouraging news. When he did the strength test I was actually able to give him some resistance. He told me to keep doing the exercise but I should be doing them more often. Those exercises only take 5 minutes so I’ll work it in sometime during the day. He also said I can do exercises as long as I don’t supinate my wrist and put to much stress on the bicep. Normal curls he said I can actually do more weight and the bench I’m "up" to 80lbs 3sets times 20. I started adding the decline press as well. Gonna start doing lateral raises with light weights . I have to figure out some new exercises as well.
