Turkey Trot

Well I ran my first run on Thanksgiving. It was a 5 mile run on Long Island. I ran it with a friend at work along with about 1857 other people. There were so many people at the starting line that it seemed we were crawling in the beginning. In the end I finished it in 45:53 for a 9:11 pace. I came in 922 place which is just above the half line so I was happy about that. My friend ended up at 938. The last straight away I said come on let’s pick it up but he said he couldn’t so I did. Afterwards I got my turkey medal and before I got a shirt so it was a good day all around. At dinner I said I earned a few chocolate chip cookies, brownies and maybe a piece of pie. This dinner only comes once a year so I tend to indulge.

I’ve been pretty good about running once during the week and twice on the weekend. Saturday is usually 4 miles and hill work and Sunday is a slower longer run. Today I made it 8 miles a personal best. As for my lifting I’m doing bench presses, shoulder presses, leg extensions and leg curls and then my arm work. I go back to the doctor’s on Tuesday and I’m hoping and I can add afew more exercises. The arm is still not right but I’m hoping the doc says it’s better and it’s still able to heal further. First Race

My brother told me about a 5K he got talked into running so I decided to run it with him on Dec 1st. I’ve been running 3 times a week since I got injured in July and most times now I do more than the 3.1 miles it’s gonna take for the 5K so I’m pretty sure I’ll have no problem. He on the other hand never ran before so he started out at 0. Talked to him the other day and he was up to 3.5 so I think he’ll finish it as well. Than a friend of mine tells me he’s gonna do a Turkey Trot on Thanksgiving and wants me to run it with him. Turns out this one is 5 miles. I ran 7.5 this last Sunday so I should make it. Plus they also tell me I can eat a little extra crap that day since I’ll put the work in early in the morning. Happy T-Day!

Not much new to report. I started doing the exercises the doc wants me to do. 3 times a week along with the old ones as well. Added the bench press although it’s only 50 pounds and 35 for the shoulder press. Everything feels weak these days. Have to admit I think about tearing the bicep everytime I lift though. It’s hardly any weight but my in my head I guess the fear is still there. I want to keep adding weight but I want to do this the right way and not rush it. Besides if I did to much and hurt myself I think my doc would kill me. Train smart!

I signed up for my first 5k with my brother for I think Dec 1. Should be no problem, since I hurt my arm I started running 3 times a week and now I do more than that everytime out. It should be fun my brother never ran and started doing one of those training plans. Last time I talked to him he was doing 2 miles getting ready to try 3. See ya.
