Go to the doctor tomorrow and I’m hoping I can finally start lifting something besides light curls and wrist curls. It feels like I got soft all over. It’s  been 2and 1/2 months all ready and I’m itching to get back. I’ve done more running in this time than ever before and I’ve managed to lose about 10 pounds. I’m hoping I can get a balance between the two because I’ve come to enjoy running. This past week I put in 2 miles and 7 hills on Tuesday and then 4 miles and 6 hills on Saturday and Sunday. I took the bike out on Thursday for about 8 miles and rehabbed at the PT on Monday and Wednesday.

It’s time.

PT

Monday, September 24th, 2007

Used the 10’s tonite. Think I’m gonna have to stay at this weight for a little while. It didn’t hurt but I felt my arm working with this weight. Therapist thinks I’m just about ready to go on my own. I visit the orthopedist Monday so I’ll see what he says.

Cardio for the week. Ran 3 miles and 6 hills on Thursday and 4 miles and 7 hills on Saturday and Sunday. Rode the bike on Tuesday for 8 miles.

PT 4

Monday, September 17th, 2007

Did the same as Wednesday only difference was I used the sixes now. Slow and steady wins the race that’s what I keep telling myself. Everyday is a step closer.

Cardio was 4 miles and 6 hills on Thursday, Saturday and Sunday. Bought a Garmin 305 tonite, hoping I can keep track of my miles and pace. If anyone has one been feel free to let me know how you like it. Days keep getting shorter, it sucks.

PT 3

Wednesday, September 12th, 2007

Moved up to the 5 pounds tonight. 3 sets of 10 for wrist curls, curls and hammer curls. Massaged with ultra sound for about 7 minutes and ice and pulsating for 10 minutes. Arm bike for 2.5 forward and 2.5 minutes backwards. It felt a little weird, I think I’m gonna have to get used to the new feel.

Physical Therapy 2

Monday, September 10th, 2007

Well we skipped the 1 pounders and went straight for the 3’s. I know it’s not much and it doesn’t really feel like I’m lifting anything but the fact that I was lifting anything is a start and that felt good. The whole session lasted a little over 35 minutes. She started with icing it than massaging with some ultra-sound thing. Then it was 3 sets of 10 with the 3’s curling than wrist curls than Idid 3 minutes on this machine that was like a bike but using your hands. I go back Wendesday.

As for my cardio did 6.2 miles and 3 hills on Sunday and 4 miles and 6 hills today. Weighed myself today after the run and made 199.5. As the fat is coming off so is the muscle but hopefully today was the first step in getting the muscle back.

Physical Therapy

Well went to see the PT last night. She seems  to think I shouldn’t need to much. All she did was put some stimulus and ice on it. I go back Monday night to start the re-hab. She said she’ll be taking out the 1 pounders out to start. That wasn’t a typo 1 pound. More for muscle memory than anything else. Just to get started again will be a welcome relief though.

Cardio wise I did 4 miles and 3 hills. Not much daylight left. Get home about 20 after 6 and the sun is just about gone by 7:30

Doctor’s Visit

Tuesday, September 4th, 2007

Went to the doctor today and was quite encouraged. He said the bicep is healing good and I’m ready to start Physical Therapy. My first appt is for tomorrow night to get evaluated by the therapist and then we’ll see how many appts the insurance company will allow. Still no golf or softball  but just to hear that it was healing on schedule was enough to lift my spirits. Got home afterwards and decided to run, couldn’t quite run the whole 6 miles had to walk twice but when I got back to the park I ran up and down 3 hills to finish the run off. When I got home I weighed myself and it read 201.5 which I haven’t seen since I quit smoking a little over 2 and a half years ago. I realize It’ll come back when I keep drinking but this was after I already had a powerade and a half bottle of water. Good Day so far!

Cardio Week 9/2/07

Sunday, September 2nd, 2007

First of all the doctor’s visit is Tuesday and I’m hoping to get some news about whether or not I can start lifting again and with how much weight. I’m anxious and nervous at the same time. Hoping for good news this time. I think my heavy lifting is over for good but I would like to at least start lifting light as I feel like I’m getting softer and softer. It’s been 6 weeks since my injury and I just want some info.

As for the cardio I had a very good week for me. I ran 3 times and rode a bike 3 times. The runs were 4.5 miles on Wednesday and then 6 on Saturday and Sunday. On the end of Sunday’s run I decided to add a little extra to the run. The park I go to has 3 hills so after I did the 6 miles I decided to run up and down 1 hill. I think the next time I go I’m going for all 3.

Waiting for Tuesday now!
