Concentrating on “Lats and Traps”… (May 25 Update)

Saturday, April 28th, 2007

The last four or five weeks my daily workout at the Fitness Center with my trainer has been concentrating on “overall muscular build” just to establish a base.  Now I’m starting to work specific groups - - starting with the “back’.  I’m learning that certain posturing and grips with the Nautilus machines can target inner, outer, and middle areas.  The same goes with my free weights routine, too.  All and all, I’m pleased with the progress.

Am fighting a “Tennis elbow” syndrome with my left elbow area, so my free weight bicep curls and dumbell hammer curls are not being optimized yet.  It’s strange because my muscles can handle it, but the discomfort overcomes a maximum workout on them.  It’s getting better, though, I found a topical cream on the internet that is really helping…..trying to stay clear of the ‘ole cortizone treatments.  Elbow pain is down about 80%…the right direction  (Note: as of May 25th, ‘tennis elbow” is down about 90%… aaaaallllright!

Here’s two progress pics of my “Lats and Traps” as of April 28th (top) and May 20 (bottom)..there has been progress…whatyathink?

Thoughts during an “off day”…

Friday, April 13th, 2007

My trainer tells me there’s a link between the mind and the muscle, and that link must achieve "oneness" to successfully build the physical body.  I believe him.  I’m also discovering that the converse is true, as well.   I’m using my two "off days" per week to rest and think about that principle and what it means as I prepare for the my next quest to my local fitness center.  I don’t obsess about this, though, because body building is not ruling my life.  I just let it happen.   I’m a regular person, with a regular job who wants to take care of his body through proper food, sleep, and "ass breaking" iron pumping and Nautilus pushing.  I’m in for the long haul…patient, yet knowing that each day is closer to attainment.

Now I’m starting to see change…

Sunday, April 1st, 2007

My workout routine change from Pilates to "free weights" and Nautilus is already showing.  My weight and chest have increased, so I think I’m on the right track.  What’s even better, is that my waist is constant, indicating that it’s probably "lean mass" that I’m building.  :D
